And while he remains identified as Rotherham United’s chairman in the club’s 2025/26 season-ticket brochure, the current Companies House control record names ASD Lighting Holdings Limited—not Stewart personally—as the club company’s active person with significant control. Those are different facts: a chairmanship does not by itself establish personal ownership or wealth.
What is Tony Stewart’s net worth?
No reliable personal net-worth figure for Tony Stewart is established by the available public sources. A company’s share capital, turnover, or investment in a football club cannot be treated as an estimate of an individual’s wealth: those figures describe a business or project, not the person’s full assets and liabilities.
For that reason, a numerical estimate would be speculative. The Companies House records and historical reporting cited here do not provide a personal balance sheet or a transparent valuation of Stewart’s assets.
Who controls Rotherham United, and what is Stewart’s role?
Companies House’s person-with-significant-control entry for Rotherham United Football Club Limited (RUFC Limited) lists ASD Lighting Holdings Limited as active, with 75% or more of the shares and voting rights. The same register records Anthony Roy Stewart as having ceased to be a person with significant control on 10 March 2026. The register is the authoritative public record of the filed control information, but Companies House notes that it does not check the accuracy of information filed with it; the entry should not be read as a description of private arrangements beyond what it records. Separately, Rotherham United’s 2025/26 season-ticket brochure identifies “Tony Stewart, Chairman.” The supported distinction is therefore that Stewart is publicly identified as chairman in that season’s club publication, while the current filed control record names ASD Lighting Holdings Limited as the active person with significant control. RUFC Limited is an active private limited company incorporated on 1 April 2008. Companies House lists its registered office at New York Stadium and its business classification as activities of sport clubs (SIC 93120). Its filing history lists accounts made up to 30 June 2025, filed on 13 April 2026, alongside March 2026 changes concerning the person with significant control and share capital. These company details are not a measure of Stewart’s personal net worth. Companies House: RUFC Limited overview Companies House: RUFC Limited filing history

What are Stewart’s business interests?
BBC Sport’s profile of Stewart, published on 29 May 2014, described him as the owner of Rotherham-based ASD Lighting PLC. That is evidence of the historical business association reported at the time, not proof of his current ownership status in the lighting business. The available records here do not establish his present role or interest in that company. BBC Sport: Rotherham United’s Tony Stewart and the club’s return home
The same BBC profile reported that Stewart bought Rotherham United in 2008 while the club was in administration. It said he promised to fund a new home in Rotherham after the club had played in Sheffield. The New York Stadium opened in 2012; the report linked its name to the local area and the former Guest and Chrimes steelworks site, and gave its construction cost as £17 million. That figure is a historical press report published in 2014, not a newly audited cost statement. BBC Sport’s 2014 profile

What has Stewart said about the Millers’ plans?
In the club’s 2025/26 season-ticket brochure, Stewart describes a recruitment direction centred on identifying young, ambitious players whose play reflects what the club calls “the Rotherham United DNA.” He says internal analysis of the season strengthened the club’s preference for that model. These are the chairman’s stated intentions in a season-specific publication, not a guarantee of future recruitment or results.
In the same brochure, Stewart refers to managing operating costs, maintaining financial stability and giving the manager the tools to succeed. He writes: “I have always promised to equip the manager with the necessary tools to give them the best possible opportunity to be successful on and off the pitch.” This sets out his stated approach; it does not independently verify the club’s future financial position or performance.
