The Japan Sharing Economy Association said some customers had reported that watches they entrusted to the service had not been returned. Statements published in 2024 document the shutdown, certification action and limited recovery support—but do not establish how many watches were recovered or the outcome for owners today.
What happened to Toke Match?
On February 1, 2024, the Japan Sharing Economy Association said Neo Reverse had announced that it was dissolved effective January 31. The Association acknowledged reports from people whose watches entrusted to Toke Match had not come back, describing them as “the situation in which there are people whose important watches entrusted to the service have not returned.”
The Association suspended Neo Reverse’s membership and the service’s certification mark on February 1, then removed the company’s information from its website. On February 6, it decided to expel the company and revoke the mark. The Association also said it could not contact the company or its representative as of July 30, 2024.
Why did the Association revoke the certification?
The Association identified two unmet requirements: O-1, a consultation or contact channel for providers, users or third parties, and O-8, advance notice to platform users when a service stops or ends. It said the failures harmed users’ interests and public trust in the certification scheme. The February 6 notice also recorded user reports that some watches had appeared in secondary-market channels and that people faced difficulties making police reports. Those are reports received by the Association, not an independently verified tally or finding.

What the certification did—and did not—mean
The Association said its certification evaluated service processes such as identity verification, review functions, consultation channels and information security. It did not assess a company’s financial condition or business continuity. The mark therefore was not a guarantee that Neo Reverse could keep operating, repay customers, insure entrusted property or return it if the business failed.
What is known about recovery efforts?
Valuence’s inquiry desk
Valuence said it opened an inquiry desk to cooperate with police and support recovery. It closed the public desk on May 10, 2024, saying its role had progressed with the investigation. The same notice said it would continue responding to people who had already contacted it and cooperating with police. This describes Valuence’s stated actions; the notice did not report a total number of watches recovered.

The Association’s inquiry count
The Japan Sharing Economy Association recorded 128 inquiries by 10:00 on July 30, 2024. That figure counts inquiries received by the Association—not verified affected owners, missing watches or recovered property.
What remains unverified
The available statements from the Association and Valuence do not establish the current status of any proceedings, the total number or value of watches missing, the number recovered, or how many owners have received their property back. The Association’s FAQ notes that its sharing-economy certification scheme ended in March 2026; that is an update about the scheme, not evidence of a Toke Match recovery outcome.

What customers can take from the case
When a service holds valuable property, its closure can leave owners with a practical problem that a general trust mark may not solve. Before entrusting an item, check what the operator says will happen to customer property if it suspends or ends service, how to reach support, and whether advance notice is required. Read a certification’s criteria directly: a process review is not the same as an assessment of solvency, insurance or continuity.
Owners documenting property may find appraisals or authentication useful for identifying an item, but they do not recover property or establish a claim by themselves. Keep existing records, such as photographs, serial numbers, purchase documents and communications with the service, and follow guidance from relevant authorities or qualified advisers.
