The TNUSRB SI recruitment 2025 application window is closed. The original notice gave May 3, 2025, as the last date to apply, but a later report said the Tamil Nadu Uniformed Services Recruitment Board extended the deadline to May 10, 2025, and the correction window to May 15. The notification advertised 1,299 Sub-Inspector posts across Taluk and Armed Reserve units; its final examination date and recruitment outcome are not established by the sources cited here.
TNUSRB SI last date: What changed?
Notification No. 01/2025, dated April 4, 2025, originally scheduled applications from April 7 through May 3, with corrections allowed through May 13. Scroll reported on May 2 that TNUSRB extended the application deadline to May 10 and the correction deadline to May 15. The May 3 date in the original schedule was therefore not the final reported deadline. Read Notification No. 01/2025 and Scroll’s May 2, 2025 report on the extension.
Both application and correction periods have passed. The sources cited here do not establish the eventual examination date, result, or final selection status. Candidates seeking a current update should check TNUSRB’s latest notice at tnusrb.tn.gov.in; the 2025 dates below are historical, not an open application opportunity.
How many Sub-Inspector posts were advertised?
| Unit | Men | Women | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Taluk | 654 | 279 | 933 |
| Armed Reserve | 255 | 111 | 366 |
| Total posts | 909 | 390 | 1,299 |
The notification separately lists 53 Taluk shortfall vacancies: 10 for Scheduled Caste candidates and 43 for Scheduled Tribe candidates. They are identified separately in the notice and should not be added to the 1,299 headline total as though they were part of the same vacancy count.

Vacancies were further divided among open, departmental, wards-cum-dependent, sports, and meritorious-sports categories. Allocation and conditions vary by quota; consult the relevant vacancy tables in the notification rather than assuming every post is available under every category.
TNUSRB SI eligibility in the 2025 notice
Education
The notice required a bachelor’s degree from a university recognized by the UGC or government, obtained on or before the notification date. It specified qualifying education patterns, including 10+2 followed by a three-, four-, or five-year degree, as well as certain diploma or ITI routes. It also restricted eligibility for degrees earned directly through open university without the stated qualifying pattern. Because the rules depend on a candidate’s exact prior education, check the notice’s education provisions before drawing a conclusion about an individual qualification.
Age
Age was assessed as of July 1, 2025. The general rule required candidates to have completed 20 years and not to have completed 30 years by that date. The notification set different upper limits for specified categories, including 32 years for BC/BC(M)/MBC-DNC candidates; 35 for SC/SC(A)/ST and transgender candidates; 37 for destitute widows; and 47 for certain ex-servicemen/CAPF and departmental cases, subject to the notice’s conditions. These are recruitment-specific historical cutoffs, not current general age limits.
Selection stages and physical standards
The selection process described in the notification included a written examination, Physical Measurement Test, Endurance Test, Physical Efficiency Test, original-certificate verification, and viva-voce. The applicable quota and candidate category can affect requirements, exemptions, and marks, so the stages should not be treated as identical for every applicant.
Recommended Free Tools
Physical criteria include minimum height measurements that vary by community and sex, plus chest measurement and expansion standards for men. The notice also gives event and scoring tables for physical efficiency. Candidates should use the specific table applicable to their category in Notification No. 01/2025; these are selection criteria, not individualized fitness or medical advice.
Pay, exam rules, and fraud warning
The notification lists a pay scale of Rs. 36,900–1,16,600. In the examination hall, it prohibits calculators, phones, smart watches, books, notes, guides, and other listed materials. The board also warns applicants against touts or agents who promise jobs through unfair means, stating: “The recruitments by the TNUSRB are purely merit-based.”
