What the 2024 TNPSC Civil Services II notification covered
The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) issued Notification No. 08/2024 on 20 June 2024 for the Combined Civil Services Examination-II, covering Group II and Group IIA services. The notice described the vacancies, post-specific eligibility and examination process. Its dates and eligibility rules apply to that 2024 cycle; they should not be assumed to apply to a later recruitment.

All dates in the table are historical. The Commission later confirmed that the preliminary OMR exam had been held and scheduled main examinations in Press Release No. 10/2025, dated 27 January 2025. That release set Group II and Group IIA main-examination papers for 8 February 2025 and the descriptive Group II Paper II for 23 February 2025. Those dates have also passed; the release establishes that the 2024 cycle advanced beyond registration, not that a new application window is open.

Vacancies in Group II and Group IIA
The 2024 notification listed 507 Group II vacancies and 1,820 Group IIA vacancies. TNPSC described the totals as tentative and liable to change; they are not a count of final appointments.

The posts and departments differ across the two groups. Check the notification’s service and post tables rather than treating “Group 2” and “Group 2A” as interchangeable or assuming identical duties and eligibility.
Eligibility and age limits were post- and category-specific
There was no single age limit that applied to every applicant. Upper age limits and qualifications depended on the post and candidate category. For this notice, TNPSC assessed age as of 1 July 2024. Consult the post-specific eligibility tables and applicable category provisions in the official PDF; these historical rules do not establish eligibility for a later cycle.

How applications worked in the 2024 cycle
Applicants had to complete One Time Registration (OTR) and then submit a separate online examination application through TNPSC’s online platform. OTR alone did not apply for a post. The 2024 notice set the OTR fee at ₹150 and said registration was valid for five years.
- Create or use OTR: Complete TNPSC’s One Time Registration as directed in the official notice.
- Submit the examination application: After OTR, complete the separate application for the Combined Civil Services Examination-II and select the relevant post options.
- Check the notice and application details: Follow the official instructions for eligibility, required information and any post-specific selection requirements.
This process describes the closed 2024 application window, not a current way to apply. For a later cycle, follow the active notification’s instructions and dates.

TNPSC’s notification register lists Notification 08/2024 and its application period, and directs readers to the Exam Dashboard for 2025 notifications. Use the register to find notices, then rely on the specific notice for the active cycle rather than carrying forward old deadlines or eligibility terms.
