Tamil Nadu’s Teachers Recruitment Board (TRB) added 1,000 Secondary Grade Teacher (SGT) vacancies to its 2024 recruitment, bringing the combined total to 2,768. In its July 16, 2024 addendum, TRB said the examination was scheduled for July 21, 2024. That date is historical; the cited notice establishes the schedule, not whether the exam ultimately took place then.
What changed in the TN TRB recruitment?
The update applied to the SGT recruitment under Tamil Nadu’s Directorate of Elementary Education, not to every TRB recruitment or teacher eligibility test. The original Notification No. 01/2024, dated February 9, 2024, listed 1,768 vacancies. Addendum No. 01-A/2024, dated July 16, 2024, added 1,000 vacancies to that same recruitment.
| Recruitment figure | What it means |
|---|---|
| 1,768 vacancies | Original number in TRB Notification No. 01/2024, dated February 9, 2024. |
| 1,000 additional vacancies | Increase announced by TRB in Addendum No. 01-A/2024, dated July 16, 2024. |
| 2,768 vacancies | Combined total: 1,768 plus 1,000. DT Next also reported this total in its July 18, 2024 coverage. |
TRB’s addendum stated: “In addition to the 1768 vacancies, 1000 more vacancies shall be filled in the same recruitment for which the examination is scheduled to be held on 21.07.2024.”
What was the exam date?
The addendum specified July 21, 2024 as the scheduled examination date. Because that date has passed, it should not be treated as an upcoming exam date. The cited announcement confirms the schedule but does not establish whether the examination ultimately occurred on that day.

No change to the other terms was announced in the addendum. TRB said all other details and conditions in Notification No. 01/2024, dated February 9, 2024, remained unchanged and applied to candidates.
