The application deadline for Tamil Nadu TRB’s 2024 recruitment of 4,000 Assistant Professors was extended to 15 May 2024 at 5 p.m. That recruitment is no longer operative: TRB later said Notification No.02/2024 was cancelled and referred to fresh recruitment for 2,708 posts in 2025. The available information does not establish the status of that later recruitment as of 8 October 2026.
What was the extended deadline?
TRB’s Addendum No.02-A/2024, dated 27 April 2024, moved the online application deadline from 29 April to 15 May 2024 at 5 p.m. The extension applied to Notification No.02/2024, issued on 14 March 2024 for direct recruitment to Assistant Professor posts in the Tamil Nadu Collegiate Educational Service. Read the TRB addendum.
What did the 2024 recruitment cover?
The original notice advertised 4,000 posts in Government Arts and Science Colleges and Government Colleges of Education. TRB’s notice divided that total into 3,921 current vacancies, 72 backlog vacancies, four shortfall vacancies and three special recruitment posts. These are figures from the 2024 notice, not the size of a current vacancy pool. See Notification No.02/2024.
The notice listed 4 August 2024 as the tentative written examination date. A tentative date in the notice does not establish that the examination was ultimately held then.

Could candidates awaiting TNSET 2024 apply?
The addendum allowed candidates appearing for TNSET 2024, conducted by Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, to apply under specific conditions. To sit the TRB written examination, they had to pass TNSET by 4 August 2024 and possess the other prescribed qualifications by 15 May 2024. They could be considered for interview or selection only if they passed both TNSET and TRB’s written examination.
The addendum also said the fee paid by these candidates would not be refunded or adjusted if they failed the TNSET condition. This was a provision for the 2024 recruitment, which was later cancelled; it should not be treated as a rule for a later recruitment.
Is the 4,000-post recruitment still active?
No. TRB Notification No.04/2025, dated 16 October 2025, says the Government ordered cancellation of Notification No.02/2024 and a fresh notification for 2,708 posts. It cites Higher Education Department G.O.(Ms) No.231, dated 6 October 2025. The 4,000-post notice and its extended application window are therefore historical, not an open opportunity. Read TRB Notification No.04/2025; the cited order is G.O.(Ms) No.231.
The information available here does not establish what happened after Notification No.04/2025. Anyone considering a later recruitment should check TRB’s latest official notice for its current status, dates, eligibility rules and application instructions; the 2024 conditions cannot safely be carried forward.

How the two notices differ
| Notice | Posts | Status established by the notices |
|---|---|---|
| Notification No.02/2024 | 4,000 | Its deadline was extended to 15 May 2024 at 5 p.m.; TRB later said it was cancelled. |
| Notification No.04/2025 | 2,708 | TRB described fresh recruitment after the 2024 notice’s cancellation; later status is not established here. |
For subject-specific qualifications, vacancy details, examination scheme and syllabus, consult the relevant official notification. The 2024 notice covered multiple subjects, so a generic degree requirement should not be assumed to describe every post.
