Yes. Apple CEO Tim Cook attended Donald Trump’s second presidential inauguration on January 20, 2025. He appeared in the U.S. Capitol Rotunda alongside prominent technology figures including Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos, Sundar Pichai, Elon Musk and Shou Zi Chew.
What happened
Cook attended Trump’s inauguration ceremony after the event was moved indoors from the Capitol’s exterior because of cold weather. Trump was sworn in as the 47th U.S. president during his second inauguration.

Event-day coverage and photographs placed Cook among a prominent group of technology and business leaders in or around the Rotunda. Reports also identified Cook at the inaugural-day service at St. John’s Episcopal Church. Those were separate events, however, and attendance at one should not automatically be treated as confirmation that someone attended every inaugural gathering.

Cook’s presence was reported by Scripps News in AP-linked coverage, Axios and other outlets. Pre-inauguration stories described his attendance as expected; later event coverage and images established that he was actually present.

Which technology leaders attended?
- Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO.
- Mark Zuckerberg, Meta’s CEO.
- Jeff Bezos, Amazon’s founder and executive chairman—not the company’s CEO.
- Sundar Pichai, CEO of Alphabet and Google.
- Elon Musk, the Tesla and SpaceX leader who was also a prominent political ally of Trump at the time.
- Shou Zi Chew, TikTok’s CEO.
The Washington Post’s attendee guide, The Guardian and Axios documented the concentration of technology executives and other business figures at the ceremony. Sam Altman was reported before the event as an expected attendee and appeared in some broader attendee lists, but the available evidence should not be used to state categorically that he attended the Rotunda ceremony without specifying the event being discussed.
Where was Cook positioned?
Photographs show Cook within the group of technology leaders in or around the Capitol Rotunda. Major business figures, including Zuckerberg, Bezos, Pichai and Musk, were visibly positioned near Trump’s family and Cabinet nominees. The images establish proximity, not a specific numbered seat, private conversation, coordinated arrival or joint travel.

Why the gathering mattered
The unusual concentration of senior technology executives highlighted Silicon Valley’s effort to establish working relationships with Trump’s returning administration. Several companies and executives had previously criticized, litigated against or kept political distance from Trump, making their prominent appearance notable.
The executives also faced substantial business and policy questions. These included artificial-intelligence regulation and government contracts, antitrust enforcement, China and supply chains, tariffs and manufacturing, high-skilled immigration, social-media moderation, data regulation, federal procurement and TikTok’s U.S. legal status.
That context helps explain why executives might seek access to the incoming administration without assuming that they had adopted all of Trump’s political positions. Reuters coverage republished by Inc. described the gathering as part of a broader change in how technology leaders approached Trump’s return to power.

Did Cook’s attendance mean Apple endorsed Trump?
No—not on the evidence of attendance alone. A CEO’s presence at an inauguration is different from a formal corporate endorsement, a personal political declaration, a lobbying strategy or an agreement with the administration on policy.
Cook’s appearance may be understood as relationship-building, institutional diplomacy or an effort to preserve access to the federal government. It does not establish that Apple endorsed Trump’s platform, that Cook agreed with every administration policy or that Cook joined the administration. Musk’s role also should not be treated as a model for interpreting Cook’s: Musk was an unusually prominent Trump ally, while Cook’s attendance by itself shows only that he was present.

Some reports said Cook or Apple contributed $1 million to Trump’s inaugural fund. That figure should be treated as attributed reporting unless the donor and amount are confirmed in the relevant official filing.

A letter from Sen. Elizabeth Warren cited reports about the alleged contribution, and a Public Citizen report listed Apple among technology companies associated with a $1 million inaugural donation. Neither source is the same as an official inaugural committee disclosure. Most importantly, a donation by Cook personally must not be described as a donation by Apple Inc.—or vice versa—unless the filing identifies the donor that way.
See Sen. Warren’s letters and Public Citizen’s report for the attributed claims and their context.
What the photographs do—and do not—prove
The photographs support the basic fact that Cook attended and appeared near other technology leaders. They do not prove that every executive arrived together, coordinated attendance, held a private meeting or formed a political alliance. Descriptions such as “surrender” or “fealty” are commentary about the symbolism of the scene, not established facts about Cook’s intentions.
The most defensible conclusion is narrower: Cook joined other major technology figures at Trump’s 2025 inauguration, at a moment when the industry had strong reasons to maintain contact with the incoming administration. The appearance signaled engagement and visibility—not necessarily endorsement or ideological agreement.
