A federal class action over Ticketmaster and Live Nation fees is still pending. It alleges that the companies used anticompetitive practices in primary ticketing and concert promotion, but the court has not decided whether the defendants did anything wrong in this case. The class administrator lists July 6, 2027, as the trial date and says no settlement or payout is currently available.
Which Ticketmaster class action is this?
This is case 22-cv-00047. The official administrator identifies it as Popp, et al. v. Live Nation Entertainment, Inc. and Ticketmaster LLC; other coverage has used the caption Heckman et al. v. Live Nation Entertainment, Inc. et al.. The shared case number identifies the same lawsuit, not two separate cases.
The private consumer case concerns fees on primary tickets—tickets sold initially through Ticketmaster or a Live Nation affiliate—not the resale market generally.
What do the plaintiffs allege?
The plaintiffs allege that Live Nation and Ticketmaster used monopoly power and anticompetitive conduct in primary ticketing and concert promotion, resulting in excessive fees. The administrator summarizes the alleged practices as exclusive dealing, coercive tying arrangements, and economic threats or coercion. Plaintiffs contend these practices let the companies charge more than they could have in a competitive market.

These are allegations, not findings of liability in this class action. The administrator says the court has not yet decided whether the defendants did anything wrong.
Who may be included in the class?
The class definition is narrower than “anyone who bought a Ticketmaster ticket.” The class notice describes U.S. individuals who bought qualifying primary tickets directly from Ticketmaster or a Live Nation affiliate, paid primary-ticketing fees, and bought tickets for concerts at qualifying major concert venues since 2010.

For this case, the notice defines major concert venues by reference to the top 500 U.S. concert venues by ticket sales, according to Pollstar, in any year since 2010. Other eligibility rules and exclusions also apply, so a purchase that seems to fit these broad criteria may still not qualify. Check the complete class notice or contact the administrator to determine whether a specific purchase is covered.
What is the case status and what should class members do?
The administrator’s dates page listed July 6, 2026, as the deadline to exclude yourself from the class. That date had passed as of October 8, 2026. The administrator listed a trial for July 6, 2027, at 9:00 a.m. Pacific, in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California in Los Angeles. It cautions that dates may change, be canceled, or be modified; check the administrator’s current information for updates.

If you did not exclude yourself by the deadline, do not assume that you can now opt out or that you are automatically eligible for compensation. Use the official administrator’s current notice and case information for guidance on your status and any available rights.
Is there a settlement or payout?
No. The administrator says no money or other benefits are available now because the case has not been decided and the parties have not settled it. It also says there is no guarantee of a recovery. There is no current payout claim to submit for this case.

How this case differs from the 2026 government antitrust case
A separate antitrust case brought by the U.S. Department of Justice and states proceeded to trial in 2026. The New York Attorney General reported that a jury found Live Nation and Ticketmaster liable for antitrust violations on April 15, 2026. The Attorney General also reported that New Yorkers were overcharged $1.72 per ticket in higher fees. That figure is reported for New Yorkers in the separate government litigation; it is not a payout amount for this class action and should not be treated as the amount every ticket buyer paid.
The Attorney General said remedies and financial penalties would be addressed in a separate proceeding. The DOJ case page lists settlement-related filings dated June 12, 2026, including a proposed final judgment, and a Competitive Impact Statement dated June 29, 2026. Those developments concern the government litigation, not the status or outcome of case 22-cv-00047.

Another separate matter, Leifer v. Live Nation, concerns secondary-market ticket claims and Ticketmaster’s arbitration terms. A June 29, 2026, opinion in that case addressed arbitration. It is not the primary-ticket fee class action discussed here.
