As of August 18, 2026, thinkmoney’s official status page reported its mobile app, online banking, debit cards, Faster Payments, incoming payments, direct debits and contact centre as operational. That is a dated snapshot, not a guarantee of live availability: check the current thinkmoney service status before troubleshooting your phone. If the app is listed as operational, identify whether the failure is opening the app, signing in, viewing your balance, making a payment or using your card; each can have a different cause.
This guide is for the UK thinkmoney current-account app. The separate thinkmoney-powered-by-Lendable loan service uses a different login and support route.
Check whether thinkmoney is down
- Open the official thinkmoney status page.
- Check Mobile App, then check the service you need: Online Banking, Debit Cards, Faster Payments, Incoming Payments or Direct Debits.
- Read current incident notices and maintenance history. A service can be impaired even when the app itself opens normally.
- If everything is marked operational but you still cannot use the app, treat the problem as potentially device-, network- or account-specific. A status page may not immediately reflect every issue.
The status page recorded Faster Payments maintenance on August 16, 2026, from 02:30 to 06:00 UTC. It was marked completed; during the maintenance, sending Faster Payments was unavailable and incoming payments could be delayed. This is a past event, not evidence of a current outage.
Identify what is failing
Choose the closest symptom before trying fixes. An app crash, a failed login and a declined card are not the same problem.

- App will not open, crashes or stays on a loading screen: check the status page, connection and app update.
- Login, passcode or biometric sign-in fails: check the login and recovery steps below; do not keep guessing.
- One-time code does not arrive: check signal and the phone number registered to the account.
- Balance or transactions will not load: check the app and online-banking status before assuming a payment failed.
- Payment or transfer fails or remains pending: check the relevant payment service and transaction history before trying again.
- Card is declined or card controls will not load: check debit-card status separately from app status.
- Works on Wi-Fi but not mobile data, or on one device but not another: focus first on the network, device settings or device reauthentication.
Try connection, phone and app checks
These are general mobile-app checks, not thinkmoney-specific fixes. Try them in order and stop if you see an account-security warning or an unclear payment.
- Check that other websites or apps can connect. Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data to see whether one connection works.
- Briefly turn Airplane Mode on and then off. If you use a VPN, private DNS, ad-blocking profile or corporate security filter, temporarily disable it and try again. Do not install or use an untrusted service to route banking traffic.
- Check that your phone’s date and time are set automatically, then restart the phone.
- Open the official UK App Store listing or Google Play listing and check for an update. Store details can change; use the listing for your device and region, and do not download unofficial copies or APKs.
- Reopen the app and test only the feature that failed. If the app loads but a payment is still unclear, check transaction history before taking another action.
The current UK App Store listing identifies the app as “thinkmoney – mobile banking” and states an iPhone requirement of iOS 15.6 or later; that requirement may change. The Google Play listing showed an update dated July 20, 2026, when checked for this article. Check the live store listing for current compatibility and version information; no Android minimum version is stated here.
Fix login, passcode and verification problems
Forgotten passcode or failed biometrics
Confirm you are using the current thinkmoney banking app, then use its passcode-reset route if you have forgotten the passcode. thinkmoney says passcodes can be reset in the app; exact screens may vary by version. If fingerprint or face recognition fails, try the app’s normal login route rather than assuming the account is locked. Avoid repeated guesses, which can complicate access recovery.

Missing one-time code
- Check that your phone has a mobile signal and can receive messages.
- Confirm that you still have access to the phone number registered to the account.
- Wait before requesting another code. A newer code may replace an earlier one, so use the latest message.
If the registered number is no longer yours, or codes do not arrive after these checks, contact thinkmoney through an official route rather than repeatedly requesting codes.
New phone, changed details or “account not found”
A phone, phone-number, email or security-setting change may require the account to be re-established through thinkmoney’s official process. If the app says it cannot find your account—particularly after a recent account migration or card issue—stop reinstalling and contact support.
A developer response on the App Store in November 2023 gave migration guidance involving the new app, the last four digits of a new card and reinstalling if activation failed. That was historical guidance for a particular migration, not a universal current activation procedure. Use current instructions from thinkmoney for your account.

thinkmoney recommends securing the device with a passcode, fingerprint or facial recognition before using the app. If you have removed the phone’s screen lock, changed device-security settings or use a modified or rooted device, those changes may affect access; the exact cause of an error cannot be determined without its message or confirmation from thinkmoney.
When payments, transfers or balances are the problem
App access and payment processing are separate. The app may work while Faster Payments, incoming payments or card processing is affected; check the relevant category on the status page rather than relying only on the Mobile App label.

- Do not submit a transfer again just because the first attempt appears stuck. If money has left your account but the recipient has not received it, contact thinkmoney instead of sending a duplicate.
- A card payment can be declined because of the card’s status, a security approval, the merchant or its payment system, the recipient’s bank, available funds or a service incident. Check the transaction and account status rather than assuming the app caused it.
- If your balance or transaction list appears wrong or remains unavailable after the status page is clear, contact support before relying on an uncertain figure to make another payment.
When the debit card is not working
A card failure does not necessarily mean the app is broken. The thinkmoney help hub has separate guidance for card activation, PIN issues, card use, lost or damaged cards and payments.

- Check whether the card is frozen in the app and whether it has been activated.
- If the PIN may be blocked, do not keep trying it. Use the official PIN help route.
- Note whether the issue affects contactless, online payments, cash withdrawals or every type of transaction. Check that the merchant accepts your card.
- Check Debit Cards on the status page. If the card is lost, stolen or may be compromised, use an official urgent support route.
Should you reinstall the app?
Reinstalling may help if the problem is a corrupted local app state, but it will not resolve a service outage, account restriction, failed verification or unsupported operating system. Try connection checks and an app update first.
Before uninstalling, make sure you know your login details and can access the phone number or other contact method used for verification. Avoid doing this during an urgent payment or card dispute. If you decide to reinstall, use only the official App Store or Google Play listing linked above.
Contact thinkmoney safely
For current-account support, thinkmoney lists 0161 779 5000 on its official contact page. The company also says customers can use help/support or chat through the app. If you cannot get into the app, use the official contact page to choose an available route.

Google Play lists [email protected] as an app-support email. Email may not be suitable for an urgent card or payment problem; use the official customer-support route for those incidents.
When contacting support, describe the exact error, the feature affected, when it began, your device and app version, and any relevant transaction reference. Never include your full password, passcode or one-time code.
- Contact thinkmoney promptly if the app says the account cannot be found, the account appears locked or restricted, or access fails in both the app and online banking.
- Escalate an unclear payment or possible duplicate before retrying it.
- Report an unfamiliar transaction, lost or stolen card, or suspected compromise through official channels; these are security issues, not routine app faults.
- If basic checks fail while the status page is clear, ask support to check your account or device access.
Use the official thinkmoney website, app-store listing or contact page to find help. Do not call numbers from random search results or social-media comments, share security codes with callers, or install remote-access software at an unsolicited caller’s request. The official help hub includes fraud and scam support.
If you mean a thinkmoney loan account
The current-account app instructions above do not apply to the separate thinkmoney-powered-by-Lendable loan service. If your problem is with that loan account, use its separate contact and login service.
