The $160 figure was combined promotional value, not a $160 checkout discount that brought the phone to $489.99.
What the $160 figure meant
The promotion combined a $60 storage upgrade with a $100 Amazon gift card. Samsung’s U.S. launch pricing was $649.99 for 128GB and $709.99 for 256GB; contemporary deal coverage valued the phone-and-gift-card package at $809.99 before the promotion. Here is the arithmetic:

The $809.99 comparison and $60-plus-$100 calculation were reported by PhoneArena; Android Authority also described the offer and marks it expired. The phone itself still cost $649.99 before applicable taxes. The gift card was not cash, and its value depends on whether you would spend that amount at Amazon.
When the promotion ran—and whether it is available now
Samsung announced U.S. availability on September 4, 2025, with a starting price of $649.99. 9to5Toys reported that the Amazon launch offer was available through September 21, 2025. The deal should therefore be treated as historical, not as a current offer. Search results or old deal pages can continue to display its original terms after it ends.

Samsung’s March 2026 U.S. MSRP sheet lists unlocked prices of $649.99 for 128GB and $709.99 for 256GB. Those are reference prices, not a guarantee of what a retailer charges today. At the time of the cited retailer snapshots, Best Buy listed the unlocked 128GB Jet Black model at $649.99, while Samsung’s page showed a 128GB T-Mobile configuration at $649.99; neither establishes that the old Amazon gift-card offer has returned. Why 256GB was the better pick during the deal
During the promotion, the 256GB model cost the same $649.99 as the 128GB phone’s standard launch price. For someone who wanted the S25 FE and could use the gift card, taking the larger storage configuration was the straightforward choice: it meant twice the built-in storage without paying the usual $60 MSRP difference.

Outside that promotion, choose based on how you use your phone and the actual price gap. The 128GB model can suit someone who mostly streams, uses cloud storage and keeps relatively few large files on the device. The 256GB version is more comfortable for frequent photography or video, large games, offline downloads or keeping a phone for years. The cited product materials identify fixed 128GB and 256GB configurations; they do not establish expandable storage.
What the Galaxy S25 FE offers
Samsung positions the S25 FE as a lower-priced entry into the S25 family, rather than a substitute for every feature of the regular S25 or S25 Ultra. Its launch specifications include a 6.7-inch display with a refresh rate up to 120Hz, an Exynos 2400 processor, 8GB of RAM, a 4,900mAh battery and 45W wired charging. The rear camera system includes a 50MP main camera, and the front camera is 12MP. Samsung also promoted Galaxy AI and One UI 8 at launch; that describes the launch announcement, not necessarily the software version on every unit sold later. The trade-off is that the FE is not the top-tier S25 configuration. The Exynos 2400 and 8GB RAM are relevant to shoppers who prioritize demanding workloads or extensive multitasking; the available cited specifications do not establish how the phone performs in a particular person’s use. Samsung’s U.S. product page does not list a wall charger among the in-box contents, so check what is included and whether you need a compatible charger before budgeting for the phone. If you see a new S25 FE promotion, compare what you will actually pay with what you will actually receive. A useful checklist:

Who the old deal suited
The promotion made the most sense for a buyer already comfortable spending about $650 on the S25 FE, wanting 256GB and likely to use an Amazon gift card. It was less compelling for someone who needed a lower amount charged at checkout, would not shop at Amazon, or wanted flagship-level performance. The promotion did not establish that Galaxy Buds or a charger were included.
