This ranking compares reported net-worth estimates—not popularity scores or verified financial statements. Parade’s 2026 list places Lorne Michaels at the top at an estimated $500 million, while a separate Celebrity Net Worth article estimates Adam Sandler at about $440 million and calls him the richest SNL alum. Those figures come from different lists, and neither source establishes audited values or a transparent valuation method.
What this ranking measures—and what it doesn’t
“Most popular” is not a measured category in the available rankings: there is no shared measure of audience recognition, social following, or acclaim for each cast member. The ordered figures below are Parade’s reported net-worth estimates, which link to Celebrity Net Worth. Treat them as estimates attributed to those publishers, not confirmed totals of assets minus liabilities. Parade’s list does not state a valuation date or explain its inputs.
The list also includes Lorne Michaels, whom Parade identifies as better known as SNL’s creator and producer than as a cast member. His inclusion makes the ranking broader than a strict list of performers.

These are the entries and values established in the cited ranking; it does not provide a comparable figure for every SNL performer. Tied estimates share a rank. Because estimates can differ between publishers and may change over time, the ordering should be read as Parade’s presentation, not a definitive account of anyone’s finances.
Why Adam Sandler’s estimate differs
Celebrity Net Worth’s separate all-time SNL article estimates Adam Sandler’s net worth at about $440 million and calls him the richest SNL alum in its own ranking. That estimate is not part of Parade’s table above. It comes from a different article, so it should not be merged into Parade’s list as though both publishers used one consistent ranking or valuation date.

How SNL built a multigenerational roster of stars
Saturday Night Live premiered on October 11, 1975, with George Carlin as host and Billy Preston and Janis Ian as musical guests, according to the Associated Press. The original performers were known as the Not Ready for Prime Time Players. The Television Academy says the original cast was inducted into its Hall of Fame in 2017.
Across the show’s decades, the AP has identified breakout alumni including Eddie Murphy, Adam Sandler, Tina Fey, and Will Ferrell, as well as performers such as Belushi, Bill Murray, Amy Poehler, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, and Bowen Yang. Their varied paths through film, television, stand-up, and other entertainment work help explain the show’s cultural reach, but they do not establish the accuracy of any particular net-worth estimate.
Rank #3
Popularity can also refer to the program rather than its alumni. In a June 3, 2026 report, NBCUniversal said season 51 ranked as the number-one comedy among viewers ages 18–49 and that total viewers were up 6% versus season 49 and 5% versus season 48. Those network-reported, show-level comparisons do not rank individual cast members or validate personal wealth estimates.
