Israel follows at $60,336.85 in 2025, while the United Arab Emirates recorded $50,273.51 in its latest surfaced observation, for 2024. These are different-year figures, not a synchronized snapshot, and GDP per capita is not what a typical resident earns.
Which Middle Eastern countries have the highest GDP per capita?
The comparison below uses the World Bank indicator GDP per capita (current US$). It lists the highest observations surfaced for this comparison, with the year attached to each value.
| Country | GDP per capita | Observation year |
|---|---|---|
| Qatar | $72,524.91 | 2025 |
| Israel | $60,336.85 | 2025 |
| United Arab Emirates | $50,273.51 | 2024 |
| Saudi Arabia | $34,536.66 | 2025 |
| Kuwait | $32,312.31 | 2025 |
| Bahrain | $30,596.58 | 2025 |
| Oman | $19,947.40 | 2025 |
This is a comparison of the leading observations in the cited data, not an exhaustive ranking of every country that might be classified as Middle Eastern. The World Bank’s regional groupings do not settle which countries belong in a reader-facing Middle East list, and the country set used here is not a full audit of every possible definition.
What does “richest” mean in this comparison?
GDP per capita is a country’s economic output divided by its population. It is useful for comparing average output per person, but it does not measure how income or wealth is distributed among residents, and it is not a typical person’s salary or annual income.

The figures above are in current US dollars, so they express output using market exchange rates and prices for the stated year. They are not adjusted to show how much a given amount can buy locally.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why do some GDP-per-capita rankings differ?
Current US dollars and PPP are different measures
Purchasing-power-parity (PPP) GDP per capita adjusts for differences in prices between countries. The World Bank publishes it as a separate indicator, GDP per capita, PPP (current international $). Its values and rankings should not be mixed with the current-US-dollar series in the table.
Rank #2
Middle East has no single country boundary
Country inclusion depends on the definition being used. World Bank regional series use groupings such as “Middle East (developing only)” and the wider Middle East, North Africa, Afghanistan and Pakistan region. Those labels are not interchangeable with a universal definition of Middle Eastern countries. A different inclusion rule—for example, whether to include Israel, Turkey, Cyprus, Egypt, Iran or Palestine—can change the countries being compared.
The observations are not all from the same year
Six listed values are for 2025, while the UAE’s latest surfaced observation is for 2024. Because the years differ, the table should be read as each country’s latest listed observation, not as a strict comparison at one point in time.
