Ralph Lauren leads the reported 2023 estimates, with a source-dependent figure
In its global list dated August 28, 2023, Just Jared estimated Ralph Lauren’s net worth at $8 billion, placing him second overall on that list. Separately, The National reported on April 17, 2023 that Forbes’ World Billionaires List put Lauren’s personal fortune at $7.2 billion.
These are two publishers’ reported estimates from 2023, not values to average together. Just Jared describes its list as based on Forbes and Celebrity Net Worth and disclaims responsibility for the reported numbers. The National explicitly attributes its figure to Forbes. Because the sources differ in date and reporting, each number should remain attached to its source.

A designer’s net worth is an estimate of personal wealth. A fashion label’s brand value is a different measure: Brand Finance defines it as the value of a trademark and associated marketing intellectual property, distinct from enterprise value.
In Brand Finance’s 2023 apparel brand table, Ralph Lauren ranked 21st, Tommy Hilfiger 37th, and Michael Kors 38th. Those are positions for brands, not for the designers’ personal fortunes, and they should not be used as a substitute for net-worth estimates.
These figures describe reported estimates in 2023, not current wealth. The evidence supports Ralph Lauren as the leading American name among the reviewed ranking material, while leaving the exact value of his fortune and a comprehensive American-only order unsettled.
