There is no verified, comparable public net-worth ranking for the original six Avengers actors. The figures circulated online are estimates, not audited accounts or disclosed bank balances. If you’re asking, “Which Avengers star is richest?”, the honest answer is that the available evidence does not establish a definitive winner across all six.
The scope here is the original team-up in 2012’s The Avengers: Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson and Jeremy Renner. Public reporting offers some useful context, but it mixes estimated net worth with annual earnings and individual film paydays—different measures that should not be ranked together.
Why a reliable net-worth ranking is hard to make
Net worth is the value of someone’s assets minus liabilities at a particular time. A film salary or annual earnings figure can show income, but it does not reveal taxes, spending, investments, debts, property, business interests or other sources of wealth. Actors’ full financial records are private, so celebrity net-worth figures published online are generally estimates rather than audited disclosures.
A recent Yahoo Finance UK article republishing a lovemoney.com list ranks 17 actors by estimated net worth. It is a secondary estimate list, not a verified accounting of the original six or the entire Avengers cast. A separate 2026 Parade article estimates Jeremy Renner’s net worth at about $80 million. That is also a secondary estimate, and it cannot by itself establish where Renner—or the other five—belongs in a comparable ranking.

Because the sources use different scopes and methods, assigning each original Avenger a precise position would imply more certainty than the public evidence supports. The most useful comparison is to keep the measures separate:
| Actor or group | Reported figure | What it measures | Source and date |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jeremy Renner | About $80 million | Secondary estimate of net worth; not an audited disclosure or a comparable ranking of all six | Parade, 2026 |
| Chris Hemsworth | Highest-paid among the Avengers stars listed in the coverage | Annual earnings for the period covered, not net worth | The Independent, July 14, 2019 |
| Main Avengers cast members referenced in the report | $340 million combined | Combined annual earnings, not combined net worth | The Independent, July 14, 2019 |
| Robert Downey Jr. | $75 million | Reported compensation for Avengers: Endgame, much of it attributed to box-office participation; not net worth | Los Angeles Times / Associated Press, July 13, 2021 |
| Scarlett Johansson | $20 million | Amount Disney said she had received for Black Widow at that point; project compensation, not net worth | Us Weekly, August 18, 2021 |
These figures are not directly comparable: they refer to different people, periods and financial measures. The reported paydays may illustrate compensation for particular films, but they do not reveal accumulated wealth.

What the public figures do—and don’t—say about the six
Robert Downey Jr.
The Los Angeles Times, citing the Associated Press, reported a $75 million Avengers: Endgame payday in 2021, much of it attributed to box-office participation. That is a reported project-compensation figure, not an estimate of his total assets minus liabilities. Read the report.
Chris Evans
The available sources do not establish a comparable, verified net-worth figure for Evans alongside the other original Avengers. His inclusion in salary roundups does not turn reported project compensation into a measure of total wealth. Us Weekly’s 2021 roundup discusses cast pay, not a verified net-worth ranking.

Chris Hemsworth
The Independent’s 2019 coverage of Forbes Celebrity 100 reporting said Hemsworth topped the listed Avengers stars for that annual earnings period. That makes him the highest-paid in that specific earnings comparison—not necessarily the wealthiest by net worth. Read The Independent’s coverage.
Mark Ruffalo
The cited public reporting does not provide a verified, directly comparable net-worth figure for Ruffalo. A salary figure from a particular film, if reported, would still describe compensation for that project rather than his overall financial position.
Rank #4
Scarlett Johansson
Us Weekly reported in 2021 that Disney said Johansson had received $20 million for Black Widow at that point. The amount is a project-compensation figure, not her net worth. Read the salary roundup.
Jeremy Renner
Parade estimated Renner’s net worth at about $80 million in 2026. That is a dated secondary estimate, not an audited disclosure. It should not be treated as a definitive position in a full ranking, particularly when the other actors’ figures may come from sources with different methods or dates. Read Parade’s estimate.

- Check the metric: net worth, annual earnings and a single-project salary are not interchangeable.
- Check the date and scope: a ranking of 17 actors is not automatically a ranking of the original six, and an older estimate is not a current balance sheet.
- Check the source: secondary estimates can provide context, but they do not establish private financial records.
- Don’t infer a precise order: differences in source, method and reporting period make exact lower rankings especially uncertain.
