There is no reliable, like-for-like “most expensive colognes in the world” ranking for 2024 in the available records. Guinness World Records names Clive Christian No.1 for Men or Women as its most expensive commercially available perfume, while its record for the far rarer No.1 Imperial Majesty refers to a 2005 edition with a historical price. Other high figures refer to special bottles or brand claims, not comparable current retail prices.
How “most expensive” can mean different things
A bottle’s headline price may describe a regular fragrance sold at retail, a limited-edition launch price, or a reported valuation for an unusually ornate collector bottle. Prices also appear converted to a standard volume such as 30 ml. Those figures cannot be treated as a single current ranking without matching the product, bottle size, date, geography and price basis.
For that reason, the figures below are best read as distinct records and claims, not as a definitive 2024 top ten.

That is a current displayed price for an ordinary product in the brand’s range, not a 2024 price and not the rare No.1 Imperial Majesty bottle. Stock and prices can change. Why published lists disagree
Secondary rankings use different bases. An older Journal du Net table presents prices per 30 ml and attributes its list to The Richest; a March 2024 BusinessDay result reports $228,000 for Passant Guardant without demonstrating that it is comparable to standard retail prices. How to judge an expensive cologne price
- Check the date. A price from 2005 is historical, even if the fragrance house still sells other products.
- Check the bottle size. A 30 ml retail price is not directly comparable with a 500 ml collector-edition price.
- Separate the fragrance from the presentation. Gemstones, precious metals and crystal can account for much of a special bottle’s reported value; a high total does not establish a matching price for the liquid alone.
- Look for a stated basis. A brand’s “world’s most expensive” description, a press-reported amount and a published retail price are different kinds of evidence.
