Virat Kohli tops Guinness World Records’ 2025 ranking of the highest-earning male cricketers, with estimated annual earnings of INR 250–300 crore ($38.4 million). That is an earnings estimate, not a verified net-worth figure. The sources available for this ranking do not establish audited personal net worth for these players, so a definitive net-worth leaderboard cannot be supported.
Highest-earning cricketers in 2025
The figures below are Guinness World Records’ reported estimates for male players in 2025. They are not verified disclosures of take-home pay, and the available source does not provide a consistent, detailed accounting method for every player. The ranking is not presented as a comparison across all genders or every cricket competition worldwide.
| Player | Reported 2025 annual earnings |
|---|---|
| Virat Kohli | INR 250–300 crore ($38.4 million) — Guinness World Records, 2025 |
| Pat Cummins | $31.3 million — Guinness World Records, 2025 |
| Mitchell Starc | $30.5 million — Guinness World Records, 2025 |
| Steve Smith | $29 million — Guinness World Records, 2025 |
| David Warner | $27.6 million — Guinness World Records, 2025 |
| Rohit Sharma | $27.2 million — Guinness World Records, 2025 |
| Jos Buttler | $26.7 million — Guinness World Records, 2025 |
| Trent Boult | $26.4 million — Guinness World Records, 2025 |
| Jasprit Bumrah | $26.1 million — Guinness World Records, 2025 |
| Kane Williamson | $25.7 million — Guinness World Records, 2025 |
Guinness says the record is dated 31 December 2025 and cautions that records can change daily and may not be published immediately. The figures should therefore be read as reported estimates for that period, not as a permanent ranking. See Guinness World Records’ record and reported figures and its record-policy caveat.
Why the earnings ranking is not a net-worth ranking
Annual earnings measure income over a period. Net worth is the value of a person’s assets minus liabilities at a point in time. A player can earn a large amount in one year without that figure revealing how much wealth they have accumulated, what they own, or what they owe.

- SS made up of kashmir willow
- Grade 5 willow

The Guinness record and the official contract sources cited here do not establish audited personal net worth for these cricketers. Any published net-worth figure should be treated separately as an estimate and attributed to its publisher and date; it should not be substituted for the earnings ranking. A complete comparison would also need a stated method and documented assets and liabilities, which these sources do not provide.
What goes into Kohli’s reported total
Guinness’ Kohli breakdown illustrates why an annual earnings estimate is broader than a salary list. It reports an IPL salary of INR 21 crore ($2.5 million; £1.8 million) with Royal Challengers Bengaluru, an approximately INR 7 crore BCCI contract ($779,000; £577,000), and endorsement income. The page names Puma, HSBC India, MRF Tyres, and Myntra as endorsement partners but does not assign individual values to those deals. These components are reported by Guinness; they are not a full audited accounting of Kohli’s income.

What BCCI contracts do—and do not—tell you
The BCCI’s annual retainership list for Team India senior men and women covers 1 October 2025 through 30 September 2026. In the men’s list, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are in Grade B; Shubman Gill, Jasprit Bumrah, and Ravindra Jadeja are in Grade A. The release gives player names and grades, not the monetary value of retainers. Read the BCCI’s 2025–26 annual player contracts.
The ICC reports that Kohli and Sharma moved to Grade B after retiring from Test cricket and that the men’s contract system dropped its Grade A+ tier, moving from four tiers to three. A grade is not itself a disclosed salary, so it cannot be converted into a contract amount without a separate, cited figure. Read the ICC’s explanation of the grade changes.

- Ideal for players aged 15+ years and above
- Made from high-grade PVC / plastic material for durability and lightweight play
- Ergonomic design offers good grip and control for casual / recreational use
- Suitable for use with different types of balls (tennis, soft rubber) for practice or fun matches
- Lightweight construction helps reduce fatigue and aids stroke development
Keep the periods distinct: Guinness’ ranking concerns estimated 2025 earnings, while the BCCI list applies to the 2025–26 contract season. They overlap in time but are not the same accounting period or type of figure, so adding them would risk double-counting and implying a methodology the sources do not establish.
