The six “targets” announced after The Friedkin Group completed its Everton takeover were strategic priorities for the club—not six named players or transfer targets. Roundhouse Capital Holdings Limited, an entity within The Friedkin Group (TFG), completed the acquisition on 19 December 2024.
What did The Friedkin Group announce?
Everton’s takeover announcement set out six priorities for building what the club described as a sustainable and successful future. They covered the men’s and women’s teams, the academy, the club’s community role, its new stadium and its reputation. The statement expressed intentions at the time of the takeover; it did not set numerical goals or deadlines, and it does not establish that the priorities have since been achieved.
- Strengthen the men’s first team through thoughtful, strategic investment.
- Develop home-grown players through Everton’s Academy.
- Set a distinct strategy for the women’s team, covering both football and commercial activity.
- Respect Everton’s traditions and keep the club at the heart of its community.
- Make the most of the new stadium through long-term commercial partnerships and events that benefit Liverpool.
- Enhance Everton’s reputation as a unique and historic name in world football.
Everton’s takeover announcement, reproduced by the Premier League on 19 December 2024, gives no shared performance measures for these six aims. Assessing progress would therefore require evidence specific to each area, rather than treating the priorities as a ranked set or as completed results.
Who bought Everton, and when?
Roundhouse Capital Holdings Limited, an entity within The Friedkin Group, acquired Everton after agreeing to buy Farhad Moshiri’s majority stake from Blue Heaven Holdings. The deal completed on 19 December 2024. Everton’s statement said the required regulatory approvals came from the Premier League, Women’s Professional Leagues Limited, the Football Association and the Financial Conduct Authority.

The Premier League said its Board approved TFG’s acquisition of 98.8% of Everton following completion of the Owners’ and Directors’ Test, and that the decision was ratified by an Independent Oversight Panel. The league’s statement on the approval was also published on 19 December 2024.
Was the purchase price disclosed?
No official transaction price was disclosed in the contemporaneous sources cited here. The Associated Press reported that British media estimated the price at more than £400 million; that figure is a press estimate, not a disclosed sale price. What did the new chairman say?
Marc Watts, incoming Everton Executive Chairman, said: “We are committed to leading Everton into an exciting new era both on and off the pitch.” He also said: “Providing immediate financial stability to the Club has been a key priority, and we are delighted to have achieved this.” Both remarks appeared in the club statement republished by the Premier League on 19 December 2024. The latter is Watts’s account of the ownership group’s priority and achievement at completion, not an independently audited finding.
