July 2024 EV offers included a 2024 Kia EV6 lease advertised at $209 a month and a 0% APR financing promotion for the Ford Mustang Mach-E. These were dated examples, not current offers or guaranteed nationwide quotes. The right comparison depends on location, eligibility, upfront cash and the full cost over the lease or loan term.
Representative EV lease and finance offers from July 2024
The examples below were reported in July 2024 deal roundups. They illustrate different kinds of incentives; they are not an exhaustive ranking of U.S. offers.
| Vehicle and offer | Reported terms | What to keep in mind |
|---|---|---|
| 2024 Kia EV6 lease | $209 per month for 24 months; $3,870 due at signing | CarEdge listed this in its Fourth of July 2024 roundup. It is an advertised example, not proof of nationwide availability. CarEdge’s roundup |
| Chevrolet Blazer EV lease | $369 per month for 24 months; $1,679 due at signing | Also listed in CarEdge’s Fourth of July 2024 roundup. The monthly payment alone obscures the difference in upfront cash. CarEdge’s roundup |
| 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E purchase financing | 0% APR for 60 months, plus a $750 financing bonus | CarsDirect reported this promotion and noted that the model was not eligible for the $7,500 federal credit on purchases. Lease treatment could differ; confirm eligibility with the dealer or manufacturer. CarsDirect’s report |
J.D. Power’s July roundup based its deal research on a Los Angeles-area ZIP code and cautioned that offers vary by model and can change or expire. Its results should not be treated as a national list or a quote for a different ZIP code. Read J.D. Power’s roundup.
How to compare a lease payment with a financing promotion
A lease’s advertised monthly payment is only one part of its cost. Compare the cash due at signing, term, taxes and fees, mileage allowance, and potential end-of-lease charges. For the two lease examples above, the Kia’s lower monthly payment came with a larger stated upfront amount than the Blazer EV’s; neither monthly figure by itself tells you which would cost less overall.

A purchase APR promotion is a different type of offer. To compare it with a lease, set a common ownership period and calculate the total payments and other costs for each option. Check the loan term, qualifying credit, financing bonus, dealer discount, and which incentives can be combined. Also account for what happens at the end of a lease versus what you own after financing.
- Lease: Ask for the full due-at-signing amount, monthly payment, lease length, mileage limit, fees, and end-of-term obligations.
- Financing: Confirm the APR, loan length, credit requirements, eligible lender, bonus or cash incentives, and total amount financed.
- Either option: Verify the exact model and trim, inventory, location, taxes, fees, and whether the advertised terms apply to your buyer profile.
Why the advertised deal may not apply to you
July 2024 offers depended on geography, model availability and buyer eligibility. J.D. Power described cash, loyalty, conquest and promotional-financing offers, with terms that vary. Financing discounts may require very good or excellent credit and a loan through a specified lender; loyalty or conquest cash can depend on the vehicle you currently own. “Up to” incentive amounts are not a promise that every buyer or model qualifies.

In an Associated Press report published May 1, 2024, Edmunds director of insights Ivan Drury said leasing was where EV customers could benefit, pointing to lower EV prices, vehicles remaining on dealer lots and a federal-credit workaround as factors behind falling lease prices. That observation provides market context; it does not establish the cost or eligibility of any individual lease. Read the Associated Press report.
