None of those prices alone tells you which option costs least: the offers depended on plan and line eligibility, and the Galaxy discounts relied on credits over a 36-month installment term. These are historical April prices, not a quote for an offer available today.
April 2026 AT&T deals at a glance
The prices below were reported for April 2026 by Android Central’s April roundup and AT&T offer pages. AT&T promotions can change; its live deals page viewed August 18, 2026 showed different pricing for some of these phones and newer offers. Check the terms for the exact promotion before ordering.
| Phone | April reported price | Trade-in | Line and plan conditions | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Google Pixel 10a | $3.99/month; about $143.64 in device payments over 36 months, before tax and service | Not required for the reported offer | Adding a line with an eligible unlimited plan | Lowest advertised device payment |
| iPhone 17e | $5.99/month; separate new-line offers could lower the effective price | Not required for the reported offer | Eligible wireless plan; some lower-price versions required a new line | iOS without trading in a phone |
| Galaxy S26 | Free after bill credits | Eligible trade-in required | New line was reported for the April offer; confirm the exact offer terms | Trade-in value for a qualifying device |
| Galaxy S26+ | Free after bill credits | Eligible Samsung trade-in reported | New line was reported for the April offer; confirm the exact offer terms | A larger Galaxy option for a qualifying trade-in |
| Galaxy S26 Ultra | Free after bill credits in April coverage | Eligible trade-in required | New line or eligible plan depended on the offer version | Premium hardware if its features suit you |
AT&T device pricing generally uses a 36-month installment agreement, 0% APR, and $0 down for well-qualified customers; sales tax on the full device price is due at sale. The exact retail installment amount, activation or upgrade charge, shipping charge, store and online availability, and qualifying plan can vary by offer. The available April evidence does not establish those details for every version of each promotion, so verify the offer terms rather than assuming the advertised monthly price covers them. See AT&T’s device listings.
Which April deal is best for you?
Lowest advertised payment: Pixel 10a
The April report put the Pixel 10a at $3.99 a month without a trade-in when adding a line with an eligible unlimited plan. Multiplying that device payment by 36 gives about $143.64 before tax and service charges. That is not the total cost of adding an AT&T line: include the line’s monthly service cost for the period you expect to keep it. The $3.99 offer was not simply a low-cost upgrade for every existing customer.

Best no-trade-in iPhone route: iPhone 17e
At the reported $5.99 a month, the iPhone 17e was a straightforward option for someone who wanted iOS and did not want to surrender a current phone for a trade-in. A separate new-line promotion could reduce its effective price, but check whether you qualify and include the additional line’s service cost in your comparison.
Most trade-in-dependent savings: Galaxy S26 family
The reported headline offer made the Galaxy S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra free after bill credits with an eligible trade-in. April coverage described older Samsung models, including Galaxy S10-or-newer devices, among possible trade-ins for some S26 offers. That is not a universal eligibility rule: the exact qualifying models and condition requirements depended on the specific promotion, and should be confirmed before sending a phone. A new-line requirement was also reported for the April offer, though offer versions differed.

Choose among the three Galaxy models based on the device you want, not just the largest advertised credit. The Ultra is a premium option for people who value its larger display, camera system, S Pen-related capabilities or top-tier hardware; if you do not need those features, a less expensive phone may be better value even if the Ultra’s promotional price is $0.
What “free after credits” means
A bill-credit promotion is not usually an instant discount at checkout. You finance the phone under an installment agreement, and AT&T applies promotional credits to your account over the stated term—typically 36 months for the offers described here. The monthly device charge and the credit may both appear on the bill. Credits can take one or more billing cycles to begin.

The credits depend on meeting the promotion’s conditions. Leaving AT&T, changing to an ineligible plan, upgrading early or otherwise ending eligibility can stop future credits. If the installment agreement ends, the remaining device balance may become due. The tax due at sale is generally calculated on the full device price, not the discounted amount after future credits. AT&T describes its device prices as applying after credits and notes that tax on the full price is due at sale in its device listings.
New line, upgrade or switch: check which offer applies
A low advertised phone payment may be tied to a particular way of joining or using AT&T. The April Pixel 10a price was reported for adding a line; the iPhone 17e had a no-trade-in price as well as separate new-line pricing; and the Galaxy S26 offers were described with trade-in and line conditions that varied by version. An existing customer upgrading an eligible line should not assume they qualify for a new-line deal.

- New AT&T customer: Check whether the promotion requires a new account, a new line, a number transfer, or a specific plan. These conditions are not interchangeable.
- Existing customer adding a line: Compare the phone’s 36-month cost with the added line’s service cost. A cheap device payment can be outweighed by service you would not otherwise buy.
- Existing customer upgrading: Confirm that the exact offer applies to an upgrade on your line, and check whether your current plan is eligible. A legacy plan may not qualify, and changing plans could affect its price or availability.
- Switching from another carrier: Confirm any number-transfer or new-account requirements and whether you must pay off your current phone before trading it in. Do not count a switcher benefit unless the offer terms explicitly include you.
For a comparison, use the official AT&T wireless plan page and the terms attached to the device offer. Compare the service cost you would actually pay—not just the phone payment—with your current plan or an unlocked-phone alternative.

Calculate the cost over the time you expect to keep the service. Start with device payments after confirmed credits, then add any incremental line or plan cost, tax and applicable fees. Account for the trade-in phone’s value: if you could sell it privately, compare that likely amount with AT&T’s promotional credit, while considering the convenience and risk of each route. The April offer evidence does not establish one universal tax, activation fee, trade-in value or plan price for every customer.

- Existing eligible plan and no extra line: A device offer can be attractive if you already meet its plan requirements and intend to remain eligible for the full credit term.
- Required new line: Count all 36 months of incremental service, or the period you reasonably expect to keep the line. Do not treat the device payment as the whole cost.
- Trade-in promotion: Compare the actual promotional credit and its schedule with the trade-in phone’s realistic resale value. A credit spread over 36 months is less flexible than cash received for a sale.
- Unlocked purchase: Compare the upfront unlocked price with AT&T’s device cost plus any extra service expense. Unlocked phones can preserve carrier flexibility, while a carrier promotion may be cheaper for someone already planning to stay and eligible for the offer.
There is no verified like-for-like unlocked retail price or exact required plan price for every April promotion in the offer information here, so a definitive cheapest-overall calculation is not possible without your plan, eligibility and trade-in details. What each phone offers beyond the promotion
iPhone 17e: value-focused iOS
Apple lists an A19 chip, a 6.1-inch OLED display, 256GB and 512GB storage options, a 48MP Fusion camera system with a 2x telephoto mode, Apple Intelligence support and IP68 water and dust resistance in its iPhone 17e specifications. It is a value-oriented iPhone, rather than the pick for someone who wants multiple rear cameras, a high-refresh-rate display or the largest screen.
Pixel 10a: lower-cost Android
The Pixel 10a’s appeal in this lineup is the lower reported April payment and a no-trade-in path. Its camera and software experience may suit someone who wants Google’s Android approach without paying for a flagship. It is not the equivalent of a premium Galaxy S26 Ultra; compare its unlocked price and the cost of the required AT&T line before treating the headline payment as a bargain.
Galaxy S26 series: premium choices, larger trade-in stakes
The S26 range offers multiple sizes and price tiers, with the Ultra at the top end. The trade-in offer could make a flagship especially appealing to an existing Samsung owner, but the value depends on the specific qualifying device and promotion. If you do not need premium hardware—or would have to add an unwanted line—the phone’s “free” price may not make it the cheapest choice.

Claim a promotion without losing track of the terms
- Save a copy or screenshot of the offer, including its full terms and date, before ordering.
- Confirm the exact qualifying plan name and whether the offer is for a new account, new line, upgrade or switch.
- For a trade-in, verify the exact model, payoff status, IMEI and condition rules for that promotion. Do not rely on a general claim that any device or condition qualifies.
- Photograph the phone’s condition and record its IMEI before mailing or handing it over. Keep shipping and delivery proof; AT&T’s trade-in page provides the official trade-in route.
- Review the first few bills to confirm the installment and expected credits appear. If they do not, contact AT&T while keeping your saved offer and trade-in records.
- Before cancelling service, upgrading early or changing plans, confirm how that action affects remaining credits and the device balance.
