There isn’t one best pair for every workout: high-impact training calls for a secure fit, while yoga and lounging may favor softness and stretch. The picks below are editorial selections from Verywell Fit, Women’s Health, and Good Housekeeping—not leggings tested by The Finance Base. Match a pair to your activity, then check its fit, opacity, practical features, and current price before buying.
Eight leggings to consider
These eight options were recognized in 2026 roundups by other publications. Awards reflect each publication’s own evaluation, so they are useful starting points rather than a shared ranking or guarantee that a pair will suit every wearer.
| Legging | Source recognition | Best starting point |
|---|---|---|
| lululemon Align High Rise Pant with Pockets | Verywell Fit’s Best Overall in its 2026 workout-legging roundup | Consider if you want a general-purpose option with pockets; confirm the current style, size, and inseam details with the retailer. |
| ODODOS Cross-Waist Leggings | Verywell Fit’s Best Budget pick | A lower-cost candidate to compare for everyday workouts. The roundup links the item to Amazon; check the current listing and seller. |
| Nike Zenvy High-Waisted 7/8 Leggings | Women’s Health’s Best Overall | Worth comparing if you prefer a high-rise, 7/8-length style. |
| CRZ Yoga Butterluxe Legging | Women’s Health’s Best Budget pick | A budget candidate to consider for softer-feeling activities; assess support and coverage for your own use. |
| lululemon Wunder Train High-Rise Tight | Good Housekeeping’s Best Overall and Women’s Health’s Best for High-Impact | A strong candidate to investigate for running or more vigorous training, where a secure fit matters. |
| Colorfulkoala High Waisted Workout Leggings 7/8 Length | Good Housekeeping’s Best Value pick | Compare as a value-oriented option. Good Housekeeping links it to Amazon; verify the exact variant and current listing. |
| IUGA High Waist Workout Pants | Good Housekeeping’s Most Popular pick | Consider if you want a widely featured high-waist workout style; check current sizing and construction details. |
| Under Armour HeatGear Pocketed Leggings | Good Housekeeping’s Best for Running | A running-oriented option to compare, especially if pockets are useful to you. |
Those labels come from separate editorial processes: Verywell Fit says it assessed 98 pairs for its 2026 roundup; Women’s Health names its own category winners; and Good Housekeeping combines lab checks with wearer feedback. None of those awards establishes that a product is universally best.
Choose by activity first
Running and high-impact workouts
Prioritize a waistband and fabric that stay put through repeated movement, plus enough support for your preference. The lululemon Wunder Train was Women’s Health’s high-impact pick, while Under Armour HeatGear Pocketed Leggings were Good Housekeeping’s running pick. Treat those as leads to investigate, not proof that either will fit your body or training style.
#1 Best Overall
Yoga, Pilates, and lower-impact exercise
Stretch, comfort, and a waistband that does not distract during bends and floor work may matter more than firm compression. Women’s Health selected the Nike Zenvy as its Best Overall and the CRZ Yoga Butterluxe as its Best Budget option. Try movements you actually do and check for slipping, rolling, or bunching.
Walking and lounging
For casual wear, softness and ease may take priority over high-impact support. A workout award alone does not establish how warm a fabric feels during long wear or whether its compression suits lounging, so use the fit and fabric information on the current product listing and retailer return policy.

What to check before you buy
- Fit in motion: Notice whether the waistband rolls, the fabric slides or sags, or material bunches behind the knees. A comfortable fit standing still may change once you move.
- Opacity: Check coverage in a squat or deep stretch, ideally in the color and size you plan to buy. Coverage can vary by size, color, and fabric tension; a publication’s opacity assessment cannot guarantee your exact pair.
- Fabric feel and support: Decide whether you prefer compressive support or a softer, more flexible feel. Breathability, stretch, and warmth matter differently for a run, a studio session, and an extended day of wear.
- Durability: Look for evidence about pilling, thinning, fading, bagging, and performance after washing. Follow the garment’s care label, since washing and wear can affect how fabric holds up.
- Practical details: Confirm pocket placement and capacity, rise, available inseams, and size range on the current listing. The award labels above do not establish every current color or size option.
- Value: Compare the price you see now with the features you will use, your fit preferences, and the retailer’s return terms. The cited 2026 roundups do not establish current prices.
How the publications evaluated leggings
The testing methods give context to the awards but are not directly interchangeable. Verywell Fit says its workout roundup assessed fit and feel, workout performance, squat opacity, long-term comfort and durability, and value, with scores from 1 to 5. Its page reports testing 98 pairs, including wearing, exercising in, and washing them.
Good Housekeeping says its Textiles Lab tested more than 30 leggings in 2026: pairs were washed five times, fabric was stretched for two hours to check shrinkage and bagging, and evaporation checks were used to evaluate sweat wicking. The article also reports feedback from more than 150 testers with varied body shapes and fitness routines.

Rank #3
Women’s Health names its category picks in a roundup updated August 13, 2026. The source information available here does not specify a comparable test count or detailed method for that article, so its award should be read as the publication’s editorial judgment.
Where squat-proof coverage fits in
Opacity is a separate buying question from overall comfort or workout suitability. Verywell Fit’s separate squat-proof roundup says it tested more than 100 pairs, assessing fit, performance, opacity, quality, and value through movements including squats, lunges, and deadlifts. It selected Copyleaf Flare Yoga Pants as its Best Budget pick in that separate article. That is an additional candidate, not one of the eight options in the comparison above, and the award does not establish coverage for every size or color.

Check current listings and return terms
Styles, sizes, colors, sellers, and prices can change. Before ordering, confirm that the listing matches the named product and intended length, review the size chart, and check the return policy. Good Housekeeping links its Colorfulkoala, IUGA, and Under Armour picks to Amazon, and Verywell Fit links its ODODOS pick there; those links do not establish current availability, seller identity, or price.
