Stitch Fix is the best overall online styling service for most U.S. shoppers in 2026, but it is not the best choice for everyone. Wantable gives you more control, DailyLook sends a larger premium-leaning selection, Trendsend builds complete outfits, Dia & Co focuses on plus-size styling, Short Story specializes in petites, and Nordstrom offers a retailer-led alternative to clothing boxes.
This guide compares the services by their styling model, fees, box size, fit support, price level, control, returns, and subscription flexibility. Prices and promotions can change; the commercial details below were checked against the cited company pages on August 16, 2026.

Quick comparison
Online styling services are not all the same. Some send curated clothing boxes, some let you preview or request pieces, and others provide recommendations inside a retailer’s website. The table below separates those models.
| Service | Best for | Format and styling model | Fee | Try-on period | Key drawback |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Stitch Fix | Best overall | Five-item curated Fix; human styling supported by technology | $20, credited toward kept items | Check current policy | Less pre-shipment control and fewer items than some competitors |
| Wantable | Control and value | Nine-item Edit with preview and request options | $20, credited toward kept items | Five days | Larger box can create more purchase pressure |
| DailyLook | Premium variety | Seven to 12 items with preview and stylist communication | $40 | Five days; 24-hour pre-shipment review | Higher fee and potentially higher total spend |
| Trendsend by EVEREVE | Complete outfits | Two to three coordinated outfits, about seven to nine pieces | $1 first box; $20 thereafter | Five days | Contemporary assortment and store availability may not suit everyone |
| Dia & Co | Plus-size-focused styling | Three-, five-, or seven-item Style Plans | $20, credited toward kept items | Five days | Confirm current sizes and inventory at signup |
| Short Story | Petite women | Five to six petite pieces and accessories | $25, credited toward kept items | Five days | Designed for women 5 feet 4 inches and under |
| Nordstrom Styling Services | Retailer-led styling | Online recommendations and styling within Nordstrom’s retail ecosystem | Varies by current service | Varies | Not a standardized subscription-box experience |
Important: “Best” here means best for a particular use case, not a universal ranking. Size availability, inventory, delivery geography, fees, and promotional terms should be confirmed on each service’s current signup page.

1. Stitch Fix: Best overall
Stitch Fix is the easiest starting point for most people who want clothing selected for them online. It serves women, men, and children, offers more than 2,000 brands and styles according to its current pricing page, and lists items starting at $29.
How it works
You complete a style and fit profile, set preferences such as budget and lifestyle, and receive a Fix that generally contains five items. You try the pieces at home, keep what works, and return or exchange the rest. Stitch Fix says shipping and returns are free, and you can order a Fix when you want one rather than committing to a required monthly subscription.
The styling fee is $20 per Fix and is credited toward items you keep. Stitch Fix also currently advertises a 20% discount when all five items are kept. First-Fix fee waivers may be promotional and can change.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Why choose it
- Broad coverage for women, men, and kids.
- A relatively simple fee and ordering structure.
- Useful for casual wardrobes, workwear, families, and first-time users.
- No required monthly subscription according to the current pricing page.
Limitations
A standard five-item Fix provides less breadth than Wantable or DailyLook, and customers may have less control over exact selections before shipment. Stitch Fix describes human stylist involvement while also using technology and machine-learning tools, so “personalized” should not be interpreted as entirely human selection. Fit and stylist consistency can vary, and a detailed quiz cannot guarantee that every item will fit.
Verdict: Choose Stitch Fix if you want the lowest-friction introduction to online styling and do not need a petite-only, plus-size-focused, or highly controlled experience.
2. Wantable: Best for control and value
Wantable is a strong alternative to Stitch Fix for shoppers who dislike complete surprises. Each Edit contains nine items, and customers can preview selections and request specific pieces before shipment.
What you pay and receive
The styling fee is $20 and is credited toward anything you keep. Wantable says shipping, returns, and exchanges are free, and gives customers five days to try the items. Its categories include Style, Active, Sleep & Body, and Men’s Active. The company also advertises rewards such as $25 cash back for keeping three items and $60 for keeping six; these offers are promotional and should be verified before ordering.

Wantable suits shoppers who want more pieces per delivery, activewear or loungewear, themed edits, and some say over what arrives. The larger box can make it easier to build several outfits, but it can also make the potential checkout total much higher.
Do not treat rewards as savings if they encourage you to keep clothes you would otherwise return. A nine-item box is valuable only when the items fit your wardrobe and budget.

Whether it's for your bedroom, closet, laundry room, or office, this garment rack effortlessly complements your space while providing practical storage for your clothing.
Verdict: Pick Wantable over Stitch Fix when previewing, requesting, and receiving more items matters more than having the simplest possible box.
3. DailyLook: Best for premium variety
DailyLook emphasizes larger selections, premium or contemporary brands, complete looks, and communication with a dedicated stylist. It says it sends seven to 12 personalized clothing items and gives customers an online preview before shipment.
Recommended Free Tools
Fees and control
DailyLook’s comparison page lists a $40 styling fee. Its stylist page describes a 24-hour window to review the box before it ships, while the comparison material describes a five-day try-on period. Customers pay for the items they keep, subject to the service’s current terms.
The company currently highlights women’s sizes XS–3X and 0–24. Inventory and category availability can vary, so a listed range does not mean every brand or garment is stocked in every size.
Trade-offs
The $40 fee is materially higher than the $20 charged by Stitch Fix and Wantable. Seven to 12 pieces can also create a substantial temporary card authorization or final purchase total. DailyLook’s claims about quality or comparisons with competitors are company marketing claims, not independent test results.
Verdict: DailyLook is best for women willing to spend more for a larger, more premium-leaning selection and direct stylist communication.
4. Trendsend by EVEREVE: Best for complete outfits
Trendsend by EVEREVE is designed around coordinated outfits rather than a random-looking group of individual garments. A box contains two to three outfits, or approximately seven to nine pieces.
Current terms
The first styling fee is $1. Later boxes cost $20, credited toward items purchased. Trendsend says customers have five days to try the items, and its current service page lists 10% off when four or more items are purchased. The styling fee is nonrefundable and nontransferable.
Customers can choose monthly, custom, seasonal, or on-demand frequency. Delivery or pickup is available, and shoes are available for in-store pickup orders. Store pickup is less useful if there is no convenient EVEREVE location.

Who benefits
Trendsend is a good fit for someone building work outfits, vacation looks, denim combinations, or an event wardrobe and who wants a stylist to think in complete looks. The service positions itself around human stylists, but that description should be understood as company positioning rather than independent verification of every step in the workflow.

5. Dia & Co: Best for plus-size-focused styling
Dia & Co is especially relevant to plus-size shoppers who want dedicated styling support and flexibility in how many items they receive. Its current help-center terms describe three-, five-, and seven-item Style Plans, improving on older descriptions that treated the service as a fixed five-item box.
Plans, discounts, and fees
The standard styling fee is $20 and is applied toward items kept. Current Style Plan terms list discounts of 20% for keeping three or four items, 25% for keeping five or six, and 30% for keeping seven or more. Themed Style Boxes contain five pieces, provide five days to try them, and carry a $20 fee when ordered outside a Style Plan.
Customers can start, switch, or cancel a Style Plan according to the current terms. The styling-fee credit applies to items kept and cannot be rolled over if nothing is purchased, so the fee is not automatically free.
Fit and availability
Dia & Co’s positioning makes it a strong specialist choice, but verify the live size range, categories, and inventory at signup. Size availability can change by brand and garment.
Verdict: Dia & Co deserves consideration first from plus-size shoppers and anyone who wants to choose among smaller or larger box sizes.
6. Short Story: Best for petite women
Short Story is built specifically for petite women, defined by height rather than body size. It serves women 5 feet 4 inches or under and currently lists sizes 00P–20P.
Current terms
Each box contains five to six pieces, including clothing and accessories. The styling fee is $25 per box and is credited toward items kept. Customers have five days from delivery to decide, and shipping and returns are described as free. Short Story lists clothing prices from $35 to $150 or more per item.

- 【Easy Assembly】The easy-to-assemble design with thread-rolling allows for quick and hassle-free install, saving your time and effort. The clothes rack has a clear instructions, a helpful video—so you can set it up in 15 minutes.
- 【Movable 360° Wheels】Equipped with four PP material wheels for smooth rolling in any direction, making it easy to reposition your clothing rack as needed. Two lockable wheels provide a secure and stable stop, ensuring your rack stays firmly in place when needed.
- 【Sturdy & Perfect Height】Built with 25.4mm reinforced steel pipes, this rack delivers rock solid stability (180 lbs capacity) , while its 63.8" height allows you to hang many pieces of clothes from short tops to long dresses—no bending, no wobbling, no dragging hems!
- 【Multiple Uses】It is suitable for living room, bedroom, home, apartment, clothing store or commercial use, and it is very suitable for providing additional clothing storage to display boutique goods, or to provide space for clothing display in theaters or studios.
- 【Professional Customer Support】Our dedicated support team is always ready to assist with any questions or concerns. If you have any issues before or after your purchase, you can contact us and we will respond within 24 hours. Your satisfaction is our goal.
Delivery frequency can be adjusted rather than locked into a fixed monthly schedule. The service is particularly useful for petite-specific problems such as excessive inseam length, sleeve length, rise, and overall garment proportions.
Limitations
Short Story is not intended for tall or average-height shoppers, and its $25 fee is higher than the $20 fee at several competitors. The broad price range means some pieces may be substantially more expensive than mass-market alternatives.
Verdict: For petite women who routinely struggle with proportions, Short Story is a more targeted solution than a general-purpose box.
7. Nordstrom Styling Services: Best retailer-led option
Nordstrom Styling Services belongs on this list because it represents a different kind of online styling. Rather than using a standardized subscription box, Nordstrom combines styling expertise, self-service tools, and online recommendations within its retail ecosystem.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsNordstrom’s investor materials describe online recommendations that use machine learning alongside its styling expertise. That makes this a useful contrast with curated boxes: you can browse and purchase directly from the retailer’s assortment instead of waiting for a standardized delivery.
What is not universal
The available evidence does not establish one current fee schedule for every Nordstrom styling option. Do not assume that all styling is free, that every customer receives a dedicated stylist, or that every interaction follows the same online process. Check the specific current service page before booking.
Older articles about Nordstrom Trunk Club should not be treated as proof of current availability or terms. Trunk Club is historical context unless a current Nordstrom page confirms otherwise.
Verdict: Nordstrom is best for shoppers who want retailer-led recommendations, direct control over browsing, and access to Nordstrom’s broader merchandise ecosystem rather than a surprise box.
How online styling services work
- Complete a style and size profile. Expect questions about measurements, preferred silhouettes, budget, lifestyle, colors, brands, and occasions.
- Give fit information, not just a size. Add inseam, rise, torso length, bra size, preferred ease, and problem areas when the service allows it.
- Receive recommendations or a box. Some services send a fixed number of items; Nordstrom may present a shoppable recommendation experience.
- Preview or modify the selection. Wantable and DailyLook provide more pre-shipment control. Other services may rely more on the stylist’s initial selection.
- Try everything on at home. Keep tags attached until you decide.
- Keep, exchange, or return. Use the prepaid return process and check the deadline, condition rules, and exchange options.
- Apply the styling credit. A credited fee usually reduces the cost of items kept from that box; it is not necessarily refundable cash.
- Manage future deliveries. Skip, pause, change frequency, or cancel according to the service’s current account terms.
How styling fees really work
A styling fee can mean several different things:
- Credited fee: The fee reduces the price of items kept from the current box.
- Nonrefundable fee: The fee may disappear if nothing is purchased.
- Promotional waiver: A first-box fee may be waived temporarily but return for later orders.
- Membership fee: A recurring charge may apply separately from clothing purchases.
- Multi-item discount: Keeping several pieces may unlock a discount, but can also encourage overbuying.
Use this practical calculation before ordering:
Potential real cost = styling fee not recovered + price of items kept + tax and any applicable charges.
Best Value
- [Storage Aplenty] This 15.9"D x 35.8"W x 62.2"H metal clothes rack serves as an extension of your closet, adding tons of hanging space to keep up to 40 shirts in order
- [Sturdy and Durable] 25.4 mm dia. steel tubes connected by screws make a sturdy clothing rack that holds up to 88 lb and gives your heavy clothes stable support for years to come
- [With Storage Shelf] The bottom mesh shelf holds up to 22 lb, making it perfect for your shoes and storage boxes. The mesh is closely spaced, so even your high heels can find a place here
- [Easy to Move] 4 universal casters, including 2 with brakes, make it easy for you to move this garment rack from your bedroom to your coatroom and lock it in place as you need
- [Easy to Assemble] Labeled parts and illustrated instructions allow you to easily set up this clothes rack with wheels so you can quickly have more space to tidy up your clothes
A $20 service can cost more overall than a $40 service if its clothes are less useful or if a discount persuades you to keep unnecessary items.
Human stylist, algorithm, or hybrid?
“Personalized” does not always mean that one person manually chose every garment. It may mean:
- A human stylist selects the pieces.
- An algorithm recommends products based on your profile and behavior.
- A human reviews technology-generated suggestions.
- You shape the results through likes, dislikes, notes, previews, and returns.
Stitch Fix emphasizes human stylists while also discussing technology. Nordstrom explicitly describes machine learning in its online recommendation model. For the other services, avoid assuming that the entire process is either fully human or fully automated unless the company documents that workflow.

How to choose the right service
Choose by control
- Want discovery with fewer decisions: Stitch Fix.
- Want previews and requests: Wantable or DailyLook.
- Want coordinated looks: Trendsend.
- Want flexible box sizes: Dia & Co.
- Want proportion-first petite clothing: Short Story.
- Want to browse a retailer directly: Nordstrom.
More control is not automatically better. Some people want a stylist to narrow the field; others want to reject individual items before anything ships.
Choose by budget
Set a maximum price per item, not just a maximum styling fee. Review the cost of keeping one or two items, because discounts for keeping a complete box can make a larger purchase appear cheaper than it really is. DailyLook’s $40 fee and premium positioning require more spending tolerance than a basic Stitch Fix order. Short Story’s listed $35–$150-plus range also makes it unsuitable for shoppers seeking only low-cost clothing.
Choose by fit problem
Petite shoppers should start with Short Story. Plus-size shoppers should investigate Dia & Co and confirm the current size and category range. Everyone else should provide detailed measurements and preferred fit rather than relying only on a numeric size.
Choose by urgency
A styling box may not be appropriate for a wedding, interview, or trip that is only days away. Processing and delivery take time, and the first selection may not work. Check delivery estimates and consider whether you can still return or exchange items before the event.

- Write specific notes: “no cropped tops,” “mid-rise only,” “machine-washable,” or “under $75 per item” is more useful than “casual.”
- Enter measurements and fit preferences wherever the service allows them.
- Upload or use inspiration images if available.
- Rate every item after checkout, including pieces you returned.
- Explain why something failed: size, fabric, color, neckline, price, or lifestyle mismatch.
- Do not keep an item solely to earn a discount.
- After an acceptable first box, give the service another delivery to incorporate your feedback. If the fit is unsafe, unusable, or far outside your stated needs, stop rather than forcing a second purchase.
Who should avoid online styling services?
- Shoppers who need the absolute lowest prices and are happy to search independently.
- People who need an exact product immediately.
- Customers who dislike packaging and returning items.
- People with unusual measurements who need a highly specialized service.
- Anyone who cannot tolerate a temporary card authorization or a potentially large final purchase.
- Shoppers who feel pressured by keep-all or multi-item discounts.
- People outside a service’s current delivery geography.
Final recommendations
Start with Stitch Fix if you want the broadest, simplest option. Choose Wantable for more control and nine-item deliveries. Pay more for DailyLook when premium variety and stylist communication matter. Choose Trendsend when you want complete outfits. Try Dia & Co for plus-size-focused styling and flexible box sizes, or Short Story for petite-specific proportions. Use Nordstrom Styling Services if you prefer retailer-led recommendations and direct shopping over a recurring clothing box.
Before signing up, confirm the current fee, item prices, size availability, return deadline, delivery timing, and cancellation rules on the official service page.
