The deal was real, but it is not current. On January 4, 2024, QVC offered the 32GB 2023 Amazon Fire HD 10 for $80, versus a stated regular price of $140. The one-day promotion matched the tablet’s Black Friday price and was described as the lowest tracked price for the 2023 model at that time. It ended the same day.
Deal summary
| Detail | What the promotion offered |
|---|---|
| Tablet | Amazon Fire HD 10 (2023), 13th generation |
| Storage | 32GB |
| Retailer | QVC |
| Sale price | $80 in Engadget’s report; a QVC community listing recorded $79.98 |
| Stated regular price | $140 |
| Advertised reduction | $60, approximately 42% from the stated regular price |
| Colors mentioned | Olive/green, lavender and black |
| Availability | One day, January 4, 2024; expired |
The original sale was reported by Engadget. The QVC community listing shows the same promotion at $79.98, so the two figures represent rounding differences rather than separate offers.
What “cheaper than ever” actually meant
The headline should be read narrowly. The $80 price was presented as the lowest reported or tracked price for the newly released 2023 Fire HD 10 (13th generation) at that point. It was not the lowest price ever for every Fire HD 10 generation: the older 2021 model had reportedly reached $75.
In other words, the accurate conclusion is: $80 was a record low for the 2023 Fire HD 10 at the time, though not the lowest price ever for the broader Fire HD 10 family. The price also matched the 2023 model’s Black Friday low, making it a strong recurring-sale price rather than proof of an unprecedented bargain across all Fire tablets.

- 3GB of RAM

- Fire OS 8; Amazon’s specification table identifies Android 11 and API level 30 as the underlying platform

Where the $80 Fire HD 10 made sense
Its value came from providing a large screen at a very low price, not from competing with premium tablets. The 10.1-inch display suits video streaming, Kindle reading, recipes and web browsing. The hardware is reasonable for casual games and ordinary household use, and hands-free Alexa support was part of the original product positioning.
- Streaming Prime Video and other supported services
- Reading ebooks and digital magazines
- Browsing, email and light web-based tasks
- Simple games rather than demanding 3D titles
- A child’s, guest-room or kitchen tablet
- Occasional use where expandable storage and a headphone jack matter
Limitations to consider
The sale configuration had only 32GB, and the operating system and apps consume part of that capacity. A microSD card can help with compatible downloads and media, but it does not make the tablet a high-end productivity machine.

How to evaluate a similar listing today
Because the QVC promotion is historical, do not treat $80 as a current price. For any live listing, check these details before comparing it with newer devices:
- Confirm the product name says 2023 Fire HD 10, 13th generation, rather than the 2021 11th-generation model.
- Verify the storage tier. The QVC deal covered 32GB; a 64GB model is a different configuration.
- Check whether the listing includes lock-screen advertisements or charges separately to remove them.
- Review the seller, fulfillment method, warranty, return period, tax and shipping costs.
- Compare the final delivered price with newer Fire tablets and similarly priced full Android tablets.
- For QVC, consult the product page, but verify live availability and pricing rather than relying on the archived promotion.
Who should skip it
Look elsewhere if you need cellular service, demanding games, serious desktop-style productivity, premium cameras or unrestricted access to Google’s app ecosystem. A 2023 model also needs a meaningful price advantage in 2026; if a newer Fire tablet or better-supported Android tablet costs about the same, the older hardware may no longer be the best value.
