The best wedding registry depends on more than product selection. Fees, cash-fund rules, completion discounts, return windows, shipping, and whether purchases remain eligible for a retailer’s perks can materially change the value of your gifts.
For one shareable link, compare universal platforms such as The Knot, Zola, Joy, and MyRegistry; for store-specific returns and completion programs, consider direct retailer registries. The 19 options below summarize the current terms reported by each registry’s official guidance—check the linked terms before you publish, since offers and exclusions can change.

If you want those retailers’ purchase tracking, returns, or completion benefits, verify where guests check out. See The Knot’s sunset notice.
2. Zola: best polished universal registry
Zola combines a registry store with more than 100,000 products, custom cash funds, external gifts, and synced registries. Supported retailer connections include Amazon, Anthropologie, Bloomingdale’s, Etsy, Macy’s, Target, Pottery Barn, West Elm, and Williams-Sonoma.
Cash-fund payment method matters. Credit-card contributions carry a 2.5% fee, while Venmo cash funds are described as zero-fee. Eligible couples can receive a 20% completion discount for six months, but the registry must be created at least 30 days before the wedding and receive at least one gift. The discount excludes cash funds, experiences, gift cards, third-party gifts, past purchases, and items added after the wedding date. See Zola’s registry FAQ and completion terms.
3. Joy: best for couples using a wedding-planning suite
Joy combines wedding websites, planning tools, a registry store, external gifts, cash funds, and one shareable link. It is especially useful if you already use Joy for your guest-facing wedding site.
Recommended Free Tools
Venmo, PayPal, and Cash App contributions have no Joy fee. Credit-card contributions incur a 3.5% Stripe processing fee paid by the gift giver, and transferring the Stripe balance costs $1.70. Joy’s 20% completion discount applies only to qualifying Joy-sold and Joy-fulfilled merchandise. It requires qualifying Joy gifts and at least one pre-wedding Joy purchase, and lasts six months after the event.
Joy Wallet is currently available only to couples living in the United States, and the Joy Shop ships only within the continental U.S. See Joy’s registry FAQ and completion-discount guidance.

To add an item on desktop, open a product page and use the Wedding Registry menu. In the Amazon app, the corresponding option is Add to Registry & Gifting. Review seller, shipping, return, and warranty details before adding marketplace products; not every item has identical terms. See Amazon’s current setup guide.
6. Target Registry: best return flexibility and everyday shopping
Target’s registry works well for practical household purchases and guests who shop in stores. The Target Circle registry offer provides 15% off and can be redeemed twice. The registry must be active for at least 14 days before the offer is generated, and the offer expires six months after the event.
To use it, join Target Circle, open Target Circle Offers, select Save offer, and use the Target app Wallet, your phone number, or the offer barcode in store.
Most new, unopened registry items can generally be returned up to one year after the event. The path for starting a return is Registry & Wish List → select the registry → Offers & benefits → Start a return. Check Target’s completion-offer terms and registry return guidance.
7. Walmart Registry: best for low prices and physical-store access
Walmart supports wedding, baby, and custom registries. Its tools include barcode scanning for in-store additions, group gifting, universal-registry additions, direct-link sharing, and access to more than 4,500 stores.
Walmart’s current materials do not promise every couple a standard wedding completion discount. Instead, check whether a completion reward applies to your registry and which products qualify. That distinction matters when comparing Walmart with retailers that publish a fixed percentage. See Walmart’s registry FAQ and Any Occasion Registry information.
8. Crate & Barrel: best for modern kitchenware
Crate & Barrel offers group gifting, private registry events, real-time gift alerts, and a shared Crate & Barrel/CB2 registry. Its completion program gives 15% off full-price merchandise for six months after the event and can be used for multiple purchases online, in stores, or by phone.
Eligible registry purchases of at least $49 receive free standard shipping, but furniture, rugs, oversized products, and other excluded items can still carry shipping charges. The completion discount is not a blanket discount on sale items, gift cards, or every branded product. See Crate & Barrel’s registry FAQ and completion terms.
9. Pottery Barn: best for traditional furniture and bedding
Pottery Barn’s registry suits couples furnishing a home with furniture, bedding, lighting, and classic décor. Its completion discount is 10% for unlimited online, in-store, or telephone purchases during the six months after the event.

Eligibility requires at least one guest purchase and a registry that is at least 30 days old. To find the benefit, sign in to the registry and choose Completion Program from Manage Registry. Exclusions apply, so check the promotion terms before relying on the discount for a large furniture purchase. See Pottery Barn’s registry FAQ and promotion fine print.
10. Williams Sonoma: best for premium cookware and entertaining
Williams Sonoma provides curated registry lists, gift cards, gift tracking, and a registry app. Its completion discount is 10% on eligible remaining items, with unlimited online, in-store, or telephone purchases for six months after the event.
To redeem online, sign in, select Redeem on the Registry List View, and confirm that the discount appears on the Payment & Review page. The program is available to customers in the U.S. and Puerto Rico; Canadian registrants use the Canadian program. See Williams Sonoma’s registry FAQ and registry benefits.
11. West Elm: best for modern furniture and décor
West Elm offers a 10% completion discount for unlimited online purchases for six months after the event. It is a good fit for contemporary furniture, lighting, textiles, and décor, but the discount has meaningful exclusions, including sale and clearance merchandise, gift cards, previous purchases, and selected brands and products.
Redemption is not available through the apps. Log in, select Redeem on the Registry List View, and verify the discount on the Payment & Review page. See West Elm’s promotion details.
12. Anthropologie: best for colorful, distinctive home goods
Anthropologie is useful when your registry needs patterned dinnerware, unusual décor, textiles, or gifts that feel less conventional. Couples can scan products in stores through the Anthropologie app, and the retailer offers registry consultations.
Anthropologie is currently listed as a partner by The Knot. That partnership is separate from the discontinued gift-level synchronization for Williams Sonoma, Pottery Barn, and West Elm, so do not assume every linked retailer behaves the same way. See The Knot’s current partner guide.
13. Etsy Registry: best for handmade and personalized gifts
Etsy gives couples access to handmade, personalized, vintage, and one-of-a-kind products. It is particularly useful for items such as custom artwork, engraved pieces, textiles, and small-batch décor.

14. Bloomingdale’s: best for luxury home goods and concierge service
Bloomingdale’s offers Registry Concierges, bonus gifts, registry assistance, and a 20% completion offer on almost all remaining home items for six months after the occasion date. Couples can contact a concierge using the registry’s Contact toggle or the Chat box on the Registry Home Page.

See Bloomingdale’s wedding registry, registry benefits, and registry information.
15. Macy’s Registry: best department-store variety
Macy’s combines housewares, furniture, mattresses, luggage, and other department-store categories. Its current guidance says couples receive 10%–20% off most remaining items and 10% off furniture, mattresses, and rugs for 180 days after the event.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.17. Honeyfund: best for cash-first or honeymoon registries
Honeyfund is built around honeymoon costs, experiences, flexible funds, gift cards, and cash gifts rather than household products. It is free to set up, and its standard cash-registry setup does not charge couples a setup fee or gift givers a transaction fee.
To create a simple cash registry, hide unnecessary website sections with the eye icon, open the Registry Items tab, and turn off the item list. Once the item list is off, gift givers can use “gift any amount” for up to $5,000 per transaction. Review the available withdrawal and payment options before publishing, particularly if you want funds sent directly to a bank account. See Honeyfund’s simple cash-registry instructions and how Honeyfund works.
18. Traveler’s Joy: best dedicated honeymoon registry
Traveler’s Joy focuses on honeymoon experiences and monetary gifts. Couples can receive gifts by cash, check, bank transfer, or credit card. Cash, check, and direct-transfer gifts are free; credit-card gifts have a 2.95% service fee deducted from the gift. Guests may also be offered a separate checkout transaction fee.
The service is currently limited to U.S. residents. Gifts remain redeemable for their full value for up to two years after the wedding, giving couples more time to plan or pay for travel. See Traveler’s Joy’s FAQ and terms.
19. Belk: best for couples near Belk stores
Belk is worth considering if you and your guests live near its stores, particularly in the Southeast. It offers in-store registry assistance, gift cards when enabled by the couple, gift tracking, and manufacturer-sponsored completion rebates.

How to choose a registry without losing money
1. Separate platform fees from retailer benefits
A “free” registry can still charge fees on cash contributions. For example, a 2.5% credit-card cash-fund fee on a $2,000 contribution equals $50. Joy’s 3.5% processing fee on the same amount equals $70, before its $1.70 Stripe transfer fee. These examples use the fees stated in Zola’s FAQ and Joy’s FAQ. Compare the payment methods your guests are most likely to use, not just the signup price.
2. Decide whether checkout should happen on the retailer’s website
Universal registries are convenient, but a linked item may send the guest to the original retailer or may be processed through the platform. That can affect gift tracking, returns, shipping, and completion-discount eligibility. If a retailer’s post-event discount or return policy is important, maintain that retailer registry directly and use the universal service mainly as a sharing layer.
3. Read the completion-discount conditions
Percentage discounts often require a registry age, a wedding or event date, and at least one guest purchase. They commonly exclude cash funds, experiences, gift cards, sale merchandise, clearance, prior purchases, shipping, and selected brands. A 20% headline discount is not necessarily 20% off the item you want; review the retailer’s linked terms above.
4. Check return rules before adding expensive items
For furniture, mattresses, appliances, and oversized products, return shipping and restocking rules can matter more than a registry discount. Target’s return guidance describes a one-year period after the event for most new, unopened registry gifts, subject to exclusions. Keep order confirmations and gift records even when the registry tracks purchases automatically.
5. Build a registry with several price points
Include inexpensive practical items, mid-priced household goods, and a few group-gift options. Group gifting at Amazon and Walmart can make larger purchases accessible without requiring one guest to cover the full cost. Cash funds can fill gaps, but show what the money supports—such as a hotel night, airfare, or a home project—so guests understand the purpose.
A practical setup strategy
- Choose one primary platform. Use The Knot, Zola, Joy, or MyRegistry if a single shareable link is your priority.
- Add one or two direct retailer registries. Pick stores whose return policy, selection, or completion program genuinely fits your likely purchases.
- Test every link. Open the registry as a guest would and confirm that products are available, prices are current, and checkout goes where you expect.
- Document conditions. Save the completion-discount terms, cash-fund fees, return window, and event-date requirements as a PDF or screenshot.
- Review the registry after the wedding. Confirm which gifts were purchased, activate completion offers, and make returns before deadlines expire.
FAQ
What is the best wedding registry for most couples?
The Knot is the strongest all-in-one choice if you want physical gifts, cash funds, experiences, charity, and linked registries in one place. Zola is a polished alternative with a large product catalog, while MyRegistry is better when preserving several existing retailer registries is the priority.
Which wedding registries have completion discounts?
The Knot and Zola advertise 20% discounts on eligible items under their stated conditions. Joy and Crate & Barrel offer 20% and 15% benefits respectively, while Target offers a 15% Target Circle registry offer redeemable twice. Pottery Barn, Williams Sonoma, West Elm, and Sur La Table offer 10% programs; Bloomingdale’s offers 20% on almost all remaining home items, and Macy’s advertises 10%–20% off most remaining items. Restrictions vary substantially; consult the official terms linked in each registry section.
Recommended Free Tools
Are cash wedding registries free?
Not always. Honeyfund’s standard cash-registry setup has no setup fee for couples or transaction fee for gift givers. Traveler’s Joy does not charge for cash, check, or direct-transfer gifts but deducts 2.95% from credit-card gifts. Zola charges 2.5% on credit-card cash funds, and Joy charges 3.5% for credit-card contributions plus a $1.70 Stripe transfer fee. See the linked Honeyfund, Traveler’s Joy, Zola, and Joy terms above.
Can The Knot sync Pottery Barn, West Elm, and Williams Sonoma registries?
Not at the gift level. The Knot says synchronization for those three branded registries ended on May 21, 2025. Their links may remain visible, but individual gifts no longer appear or sync. Couples who need those retailers’ tracking, returns, or completion benefits should verify the direct retailer registry. See The Knot’s sunset notice.
The Bottom Line
For a single shareable registry, start with The Knot, Zola, Joy, or MyRegistry—but compare cash-fund fees and confirm where guests check out. For stronger retailer-specific returns and completion benefits, create a direct registry with Target, Crate & Barrel, Pottery Barn, Williams Sonoma, West Elm, Macy’s, or another store that matches your purchases. The best setup is often a combination: one convenient universal link plus direct retailer registries for expensive items and benefits you intend to use.
