These are published estimates, not confirmed contract figures; FootyStats says its salary data was last verified for 2025/26, even though the page currently displays 2026/27 as its season context.

FootyStats’ Championship salary and wage data supplies the names and amounts. Its page says the salary data was last verified for 2025/26; the list should not be read as a definitive 2026/27 roster or a live ranking after subsequent transfers, promotions, or relegations.
Who is the highest-paid player in the Championship?
Harry Winks is the leader in this FootyStats estimate, at €6,786,000 per year. Patson Daka is next at €5,655,000, followed by Boubakary Soumaré and Ricardo Pereira, tied at €5,549,440. These figures describe what the database lists, not verified amounts disclosed in player contracts.

How reliable are these salary estimates?
Individual football salaries are often not publicly disclosed, and salary databases can use different evidence and methods. Capology’s Championship salary page states: “All salaries are estimates and do not represent official figures.” It says verified entries draw on public reporting and/or sources close to Capology; unverified entries may be algorithmic estimates based on club personnel costs or unconfirmed reporting. No official or primary-source confirmation was identified for every player and amount in this ranking.
Other published material offers context, not a player-by-player cross-check. SalaryLeaks’ 2025/26 club wage-bill estimates describe typical top Championship earners in a £30,000–£45,000 weekly range. That broad commentary does not independently verify the FootyStats figures. FBref’s 2025/26 Championship wages page attributes its wage data to Capology and cautions that it is not a source for sporting-director transfer decisions.

What to check when comparing player salary lists
- Season and roster: A figure associated with 2025/26 may not describe a player’s club or league status in 2026/27.
- Currency and period: This ranking uses annual euro amounts. Do not compare them directly with weekly pound figures without a dated exchange rate and a clear conversion.
- Salary definition: A database may distinguish fixed salary from estimated bonuses or total wages. Capology’s methodology notes that these are not necessarily the same measure.
- Loans: For a player on loan, the parent and borrowing clubs may divide salary costs. Capology notes that loan players can have multiple estimates reflecting that split.
- Verification: Check whether an entry is supported by public reporting or close-source verification, or is an estimate without that level of confirmation.
