The $129.97 Microsoft Office 2024 Black Friday Deal Was Real—but It’s Expired

The November 2024 Office Home 2024 promotion advertised $129.97 for a one-time, one-device license. The old price and “first 100 codes” claim are not verified as current.

Verdict: The advertised Microsoft Office 2024 deal was a real promotion published on November 28, 2024, but its $129.97 price and “first 100 codes” claim are historical—not a verified offer today. The product was Office Home 2024, a one-time purchase for one PC or Mac with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote. Don’t treat the old price or urgency as current unless a seller’s checkout confirms a live offer.

What the original Black Friday deal offered

BleepingComputer’s November 28, 2024 deal page advertised Office Home 2024 for $129.97, compared with a stated regular price of $149.99—a claimed saving of $20, or about 13.3% off that reference price. The page said the promotion was limited to the first 100 codes. Those figures describe the original promotion, not current availability. See the original deal listing.

The offer was for a one-time Office Home 2024 license, not a Microsoft 365 subscription. The listing described Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote for one Windows PC or Mac. Microsoft’s product page likewise describes Office Home 2024 as a one-time purchase for one PC or Mac with those four apps. Check Microsoft’s Office Home 2024 product page.

Is the $129.97 offer still available?

The promotion dates to November 2024. The available information does not verify that its merchant checkout still works or that the same product, price, or terms remain available. As of August 2026, treat the deal as expired or unverified; do not rely on a reused headline, old price, or scarcity message as proof of a current sale.

Microsoft’s U.S. Store has listed Office Home & Business 2024 at $249.99, but that is a different edition and prices can change. The available pricing information does not establish a current official price for Office Home 2024 or a current Microsoft 365 plan price. Check the product page and final checkout total before deciding. Check Microsoft’s Office Home & Business 2024 page.

Microsoft Office Home & Business 2024 | Classic Desktop Apps: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and OneNote | One-Time Purchase for 1 PC/MAC | Instant Download [PC/Mac Online Code]
  • [Ideal for One Person] — With a one-time purchase of Microsoft Office Home & Business 2024, you can create, organize, and get things done.
  • [Classic Office Apps] — Includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and OneNote.
  • [Desktop Only & Customer Support] — To install and use on one PC or Mac, on desktop only. Microsoft 365 has your back with readily available technical support through chat or phone.

When a one-time purchase can make sense

  • You primarily use one computer and expect to keep it for several years.
  • You need Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote but not Outlook.
  • You prefer paying once and can do without Microsoft 365’s subscription benefits and continuing feature releases.

When Microsoft 365 may fit better

  • You work across several devices or need more than one person to have access.
  • OneDrive storage, synchronized files, or cloud-connected collaboration matter to you.
  • You want the latest subscription features. AI capabilities depend on the specific plan and eligibility; buying Office 2024 does not automatically grant Microsoft 365 Copilot benefits.

If you only need basic editing, browser-based Office apps, Google Docs, Sheets and Slides, or LibreOffice may be worth considering. They are not guaranteed substitutes for complex Excel workbooks, VBA macros, advanced formatting, fonts, or PowerPoint layouts.

Check what Office Home 2024 does—and does not—include

Office Home 2024 does not include Outlook. If desktop email and calendar are essential, compare Office Home & Business 2024 instead. Microsoft lists Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote in that edition, licensed for one PC or Mac. Review Microsoft’s Office 2024 and Office LTSC 2024 FAQ.

  • Easy Digital Download with Microsoft Account | Product delivered electronically for quick setup. Sign in with your Microsoft account, redeem your code, and download your apps instantly to your Windows, Mac, iPhone, iPad, and Android devices.

“Lifetime” is imprecise marketing language. A one-time purchase is for the version you buy under its license terms; it does not promise free access to future major Office releases or every future Microsoft 365 feature. Microsoft describes the difference between these purchase models in its Office 2024 and Microsoft 365 comparison.

Check compatibility before buying

Microsoft’s current system-requirements page lists Windows 11 for consumer Office 2024, with a 1.1 GHz or faster dual-core processor, 4 GB of RAM, 4 GB of available storage, and a display of at least 1280 × 768. The page lists Mac support for Intel or Apple Silicon, one of the three most recent macOS versions, 4 GB of RAM, 10 GB of available storage, and a display of at least 1280 × 800. Check Microsoft’s current system requirements.

  • Share Your Family Subscription | You can share all of your subscription benefits with up to 6 people for use across all their devices.

Microsoft’s requirements page also says internet access is needed for redemption, activation, and periodic reactivation. Microsoft documentation has used differing Windows wording: the current consumer requirements page lists Windows 11, while an FAQ has older “Windows 10 or later” wording. If you use Windows 10, do not assume compatibility from the older wording; confirm the requirements for the exact product and system before paying.

Verify a deal and its license before checkout

A product key’s low price does not establish that it is a legitimate retail license. Before buying from a third-party seller, check the listing and the seller’s terms rather than relying on a generic “Office 2024” label.

  • Edition: Confirm Office Home or Home & Business, and whether Outlook is included.
  • Platform and scope: Verify Windows, Mac, or both, plus the one-device limit and any transfer terms.
  • Purchase type: Make sure it is a one-time purchase if that is what you want, not a subscription—or an unclear “lifetime” claim.
  • Seller and license: Identify the seller of record, license type, region and language restrictions, support channel, and refund policy. Avoid assuming an unofficial marketplace key is a retail license; keys can be previously redeemed, region-restricted, volume-licensed, invalid, or later revoked.
  • Redemption: Confirm how the key is redeemed and whether the apps must be downloaded separately through Microsoft’s setup process.
  • Price and timing: Check the price, expiration date, and final checkout total on a live page. Do not treat an old countdown or “first 100” claim as current evidence.

For a business purchase, confirm that the offer is appropriate for commercial use rather than assuming a consumer license covers your needs. Keep the order confirmation, invoice, key, and Microsoft account details in case you need to reinstall or resolve an activation issue.

What to do if activation or the order goes wrong

If the key will not activate

  1. Use the Microsoft redemption or Office setup flow specified for the product, rather than an unfamiliar activation site.
  2. Check that the key matches the edition and platform you bought, and verify that it has not already been redeemed.
  3. Save the exact error message and contact the original seller with your order details before buying another key.
  4. If the seller cannot resolve the issue, request a refund under the seller’s policy or through the marketplace or payment provider.

If you receive the wrong edition or an expired offer

Compare the order confirmation with the listing and save screenshots of the offer and checkout. If Outlook was promised but the order is for Office Home, request a correction or refund promptly. If a deal page only shows the old 2024 price, do not proceed on the assumption it remains valid; verify the product and price at checkout.

How long Office 2024 is supported

Microsoft’s FAQ gives October 9, 2029 as the end-of-support date for the commercial Office LTSC 2024 edition. That date should not be applied automatically to every consumer Office 2024 product: Microsoft handles consumer Office 2024 under its Modern Lifecycle Policy, so check the lifecycle information for the specific product. See Microsoft’s lifecycle FAQ.
