No—the Model Y 0% APR offer reported in October 2024 is not the offer Tesla lists now. Notebookcheck reported that Tesla had dropped a requirement to buy Full Self-Driving (Supervised) to qualify for the 0% rate. As of October 8, 2026, Tesla’s U.S. offers page lists a different promotion: 1.49% APR for eligible Model Y trims for up to 72 months.
What Tesla’s 2024 Model Y promotion offered
In a report dated October 22, 2024, Notebookcheck said Tesla offered 0% APR financing on the Model Y for a 60-month term without requiring buyers to purchase Full Self-Driving (Supervised). The report’s example for a Model Y RWD was $581 per month with $3,999 down after the federal tax credit. That was a reported example—not a guaranteed payment or a current quote.

The $581 monthly payment depended on the report’s RWD example and its stated $3,999 down payment after the federal tax credit. A buyer’s payment can differ with the vehicle, amount financed, down payment, applicable incentives, taxes and fees, and approved loan terms. Notebookcheck said applicants needed excellent credit. It also noted that Tesla could change or end the promotion; the report stated no deadline at that time, which did not mean the offer would remain available indefinitely. What Tesla lists now
Checked October 8, 2026, Tesla’s U.S. offers page lists 1.49% APR for eligible Model Y trims for up to 72 months. Tesla says the promotion applies to well-qualified buyers with excellent credit who order on or after September 3, 2026, and requires at least 5% down. Some vehicles and sales are excluded. Tesla also warns that promotions may change or end and not all applicants qualify. These terms are distinct from the 2024 0% promotion. What to check before applying for financing
- Confirm the rate and term for the exact vehicle. Promotional rates can depend on model, trim, order date, delivery or sale conditions, and eligibility.
- Compare the complete loan, not just the APR. Check the amount financed, required down payment, monthly payment, term, and any applicable taxes or fees. A longer term may reduce the monthly payment while keeping you in debt longer.
- Verify incentives in your own situation. The 2024 payment example was stated after the federal tax credit; it should not be treated as a universal price or assumed benefit.
- Account for the credit application. Tesla Support says, “A credit application using a hard credit pull will still be required to finance your vehicle purchase through Tesla.” Tesla says financing is subject to credit approval and available only in listed states. - Compare outside financing if useful. Tesla describes third-party financing as another option, alongside vehicle loan terms from 36 to 84 months. Ask any lender for its rate, fees, term, and total repayment for the same amount financed before deciding. Tesla’s financing-options page.
Was buying FSD part of the old financing condition?
No, according to Notebookcheck’s October 22, 2024 report: the reported 0% Model Y rate no longer required an FSD purchase. That historical financing condition should not be confused with how Tesla sells or prices FSD now. As checked October 8, 2026, Tesla’s support page says Full Self-Driving (Supervised) is available as a $99 USD-per-month subscription and is not available for outright purchase; Tesla says pricing and feature availability may change.
