Allie Arebalo, identified as Tesla’s top human-resources executive, was reportedly let go during the week of May 2, 2024, according to a Futurism report by Victor Tangermann citing Bloomberg sources. The report said she reported directly to CEO Elon Musk. It did not present the departure as a resignation or as an announcement confirmed by Tesla.
What was reported about Allie Arebalo’s departure?
Futurism’s May 2, 2024 article said Arebalo had been let go that week. The report attributed the information to Bloomberg sources; the Bloomberg report itself is not available among the sources reviewed here. No direct statement from Arebalo, Tesla, or a named company representative about her departure was included.
That distinction matters: the available account supports describing the event as a reported termination, not a resignation or an officially confirmed personnel announcement.
Why did the story connect her departure to a Tesla crisis?
The article placed the personnel report amid two rounds of mass layoffs within a month and other senior departures. It described the layoffs as affecting “up to 20 percent” of Tesla’s global headcount. That figure is an estimate reported in the 2024 article, not a company-confirmed total established by the sources reviewed.

Tesla’s investor-relations press page reported third-quarter production, deliveries, and energy-storage deployments on that date, but those updates do not verify the 2024 personnel report.
