The specifications above are reported from Chinese MIIT filings rather than independent road tests. The filings also list the Model 3 at 4,720 × 1,848 × 1,442 mm, with a 2,875-mm wheelbase and a 225-kW rear motor. Tesla’s company update confirms the YL’s seating and wheelbase distinction but does not provide a full technical specification.

What does 830 km of Model 3 range mean?
The 830-km figure is the maximum reported China CLTC certification value for the Model 3 Long Range, not a forecast of how far every driver will travel on a charge. MIIT-attributed reporting also gives 800 km for an alternate configuration. Actual range can differ from a certification result; the sources here do not provide independent real-world range measurements.
Use the CLTC number to compare the variants within the same reported Chinese testing context. It should not be treated as directly equivalent to a figure under another region’s test procedure, such as EPA or WLTP.

What do the reported prices show?
Price reports changed after the Model 3 Long Range launch. CarNewsChina reported a China launch price of 269,500 yuan on August 12, 2025. Reuters reported on August 31 that Tesla had reduced the rear-wheel-drive Model 3 price by 3.7%, to 259,500 yuan. These are historical reported prices, not confirmation of Tesla China’s current listing or of the price a buyer would pay after any applicable offers, taxes, or fees.
For the Model YL, Electrive reported a presale starting price of 339,000 yuan on August 19, 2025. Because that was a dated presale report, it should not be read as a live quote or directly compared with a current retail price.

Are the Model 3 Long Range and Model YL available outside China?
The sources establish China-market launches or presales, not export plans or availability in other countries. Tesla’s Q3 2025 update specifically says it launched the Model YL in China. Buyers elsewhere should check their local Tesla site rather than assume that a China specification, name, price, or configuration is offered in their market.
Does the price cut prove the China EV price war is intensifying?
The Reuters-reported Model 3 reduction is a concrete instance of Tesla lowering a China-market price. Alongside the new variants, it fits the broader price-pressure context behind “price war” headlines. But the evidence cited here does not show a competitor forced Tesla’s move, establish Tesla’s reason for cutting the price, or provide a comparable series of rivals’ prices that would demonstrate how the market as a whole changed. Treat “price war heats up” as context, not a proven explanation for these specific decisions.
