The Tesla Model 3 Performance is a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive electric sedan built around quick acceleration. Tesla’s U.S. page lists a starting price of $56,630, including destination and order fees but excluding taxes and other fees; it does not establish a universal cost to own. Your electricity rates, insurance quote, charging habits, tires, and ownership period determine the ongoing bill. The price and specifications below reflect retrieved U.S. Tesla page content and should be checked against the live configuration for the model year you are considering.
What the Model 3 Performance offers
Tesla’s retrieved U.S. product-page content describes the Performance as a dual-motor all-wheel-drive Model 3 and lists 528 hp, a 163 mph top speed, and 0–60 mph in 2.9 seconds with rollout subtracted. Those are manufacturer-listed specifications, not independent test results. The product page is mutable, so confirm the exact model year and configuration in Tesla’s live configurator before comparing trims or placing an order. Tesla Model 3
How far it can go on a charge
Do not treat an EPA range estimate as a guaranteed highway-trip distance. Tesla’s retrieved product-page content has inconsistent range figures across model-year and configuration snippets, so this guide does not present one as the current Performance figure. Verify the EPA-estimated range shown for the exact vehicle configuration you are buying.
Tesla says real-world range and charging performance can vary with Supercharger type, configuration, battery state of charge and temperature, speed, weather, elevation, and other factors. Its “miles added in 15 minutes” figure assumes a constant highway speed of 65 mph; that assumption is not a prediction of how many miles every driver will add during a 15-minute stop. Tesla Model 3

A historical EPA reference—not a current-trim estimate
The U.S. EPA ENERGY STAR listing for the 2023 Model 3 Performance AWD reports 315 miles of electric range and combined electricity use of 30 kWh per 100 miles. These are figures for that 2023 model-year listing only; they should not be substituted for the estimate on a newer vehicle. EPA ENERGY STAR: 2023 Tesla Model 3 Performance AWD
U.S. purchase price and what it excludes
Tesla’s retrieved U.S. page lists a $56,630 starting price for the Performance, including destination and order fees but excluding taxes and other fees. Tesla says the price is subject to change. Treat it as a dated page price, not an out-the-door quote: local taxes, other fees, options, incentives, financing, and delivery details can change what you pay. Check the live configurator and your purchase documents for the current figure. Tesla Model 3

How to estimate your cost of ownership
There is no defensible single annual or five-year ownership-cost total without your location, annual mileage, home-versus-public charging mix, electricity price, insurance quote, financing and depreciation assumptions, and ownership period. Build an estimate from your own inputs rather than relying on a generic figure:
- Estimate electricity. Start with the EPA efficiency figure for the exact model year and configuration, then estimate annual energy use from your driving. Multiply by your actual electricity rates and account for how much charging will occur at home versus public chargers. The 2023 EPA figure above is useful only for that model year; it is not a current-trim efficiency claim.
- Get insurance quotes. Request quotes for your ZIP code, driver profile, coverage limits, and deductible. A general estimate cannot account for those variables.
- Budget for tires and wear items. Include tire rotations and replacement as applicable, along with wiper blades, cabin air filters, and brake-fluid checks. The maintenance intervals below are recommendations, not a complete repair budget.
- Add ownership and setup costs. Account for depreciation, financing, taxes, registration, and any home-charging equipment and installation that apply to you.
Tesla says its vehicles need less annual maintenance because they have electric motors rather than gas engines. That is a general manufacturer claim, not a quantified savings estimate for the Performance trim; the manufacturer still recommends routine tire, filter, wiper, brake-fluid, and climate-related checks. Recommended maintenance intervals
Tesla’s Model 3 maintenance guidance gives these intervals as applicable to the vehicle. Use, road conditions, and driving style can affect service needs, and Tesla says the list is not comprehensive. Tesla Model 3 Do It Yourself maintenance documentation
| Item | Tesla recommendation |
|---|---|
| Cabin air filter | Replace every two years. |
| Wiper blades | Replace every year. |
| Tire rotation | Every 6,250 miles, or when tread-depth difference is at least 2/32 inch. |
| Brake-fluid health | Check every four years; replace if necessary. Heavy brake use, including performance driving, may call for more frequent checks. |
| Brake calipers in areas with winter road salt | Clean and lubricate every year or 12,500 miles. |
Warranty coverage listed for the Performance
Tesla’s retrieved U.S. page lists basic vehicle coverage for four years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first, and battery and drive-unit coverage for eight years or 120,000 miles, whichever comes first. What to compare before buying
When weighing the Performance against another Model 3 trim or another car, compare like with like: the price after local taxes, fees, and incentives; EPA range for the exact model year; acceleration and power; charging speed and access; warranty terms; tire and scheduled-service needs; insurance; and your delivered electricity price. The figures here do not establish competitor costs or location-specific operating expenses, so obtain those from the relevant manufacturer, providers, and your own quotes.
