Tencent’s investment in Ubisoft’s new games subsidiary is complete: it invested €1.16 billion for an approximately 25% economic interest in the company, now called Vantage Studios. The deal covers Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six franchises—but it does not mean Tencent bought those franchises outright.
How much did Tencent invest in Ubisoft?
Ubisoft announced on March 27, 2025, that Tencent would invest €1.16 billion in a newly created subsidiary. Ubisoft said the investment was completed on November 21, 2025. The announcement described Tencent’s stake as an approximately 25% economic interest in that subsidiary.
The original headline’s $1.25 billion is a dollar-denominated rendering of the €1.16 billion deal value. Ubisoft reported the transaction in euros, so that is the clearest figure to use.
What is Vantage Studios?
Vantage Studios is the name of Ubisoft Nova SAS, the subsidiary created around three major Ubisoft franchises. Ubisoft announced the studio’s launch on October 1, 2025, and its November closing announcement referred to Ubisoft Nova SAS as Vantage Studios.

Ubisoft’s November announcement also put Vantage Studios’ pre-money enterprise value at €3.8 billion. That is a company-reported valuation measure, distinct from Tencent’s €1.16 billion cash investment; the two figures describe different things and should not be treated as interchangeable.
Which Ubisoft games and franchises are part of the deal?
The subsidiary is built around three named franchises:

- Challenge yourself with Career mode, featuring 80 missions to take you from Casual angler to legendary fisher

- Nintendo Switch system: use motion controls with the Joy-Con Controllers to cast (classic controls also available)
- Assassin’s Creed
- Far Cry
- Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six
Ubisoft described these franchises as the foundation of Vantage Studios. The transaction announcements describe Tencent’s investment as an interest in the subsidiary, not a purchase of the underlying franchises themselves.
Why did Ubisoft create the subsidiary?
In its March 2025 announcement, Ubisoft said the transaction was intended to strengthen its balance sheet, reduce consolidated net debt, accelerate its transformation and support selected franchises. These were the company’s stated aims, not evidence by themselves of later financial or creative results.
