But there are exclusions, electronics may have shorter seller-dependent deadlines, and a return must be mailed within 14 days after you request it. Whether Temu is worth using depends on the item, the terms shown for your order, and how comfortable you are with the refund process.
What Temu’s return policy says
Temu Support says almost all items can be returned within 90 days of purchase. That is a company policy statement, not a guarantee that every item qualifies or that every request will be approved. The exact terms shown on the listing and in your account’s order flow should govern your decision.
Exceptions and item condition
Temu lists exclusions that include worn, washed, or damaged clothing and clothing missing tags or hygiene stickers; grocery and food products; health and personal-care items; some free gifts; some customized products; and some underwear orders. The detailed exclusions vary across Temu’s localized support information, so check the specific listing and order page rather than assuming an entire category is always returnable or always excluded.
Electronics may have a shorter window
Temu says most electronics have a 45-, 60-, or 90-day return period depending on the seller. Do not assume the general 90-day window applies to an electronic item. Confirm the applicable period for the product and seller before buying.

The mailing deadline is separate
After submitting a return request, Temu says you must send the parcel within 14 days. That is a second deadline, not an extension of the original return window: Temu’s guidance says a return cannot be made after the applicable outer window expires. Start the process early enough to meet both deadlines.
How to return an item
- Open Your orders in your Temu account.
- Select the relevant order and choose Return/Refund.
- Select the item or items, choose a reason, and follow the return and refund options displayed for that order.
- If Temu requires the item to be sent back, choose the displayed return method and mail the parcel within 14 days of submitting the request.
Temu says the first return for every order is free. That is Temu’s stated policy; do not assume every subsequent return or every local shipping arrangement has the same terms. The order flow may also indicate that no return is needed, so check the instructions rather than sending an item back automatically.

Refunds and Purchase Protection
Temu says Purchase Protection offers refunds for items that do not arrive, arrive damaged, or are not as described. A return may be requested before a refund is issued. When you submit a request, the available refund choices may include Temu credit or the original payment method; follow the options shown for your order.
The refund amount may be calculated with taxes, shipping, coupons, or credit taken into account. The stated protection is not a promise that every claim will be approved or that a refund will always equal the item’s displayed price.

Is Temu worth shopping from?
The broad stated return window and free first return can reduce some purchase risk, especially when you have checked that the specific item qualifies. They do not establish that an item is good quality, a good value, or likely to match its listing; the policy itself is not evidence of those outcomes.
Before placing an order, consider these points:
- Check the exact listing and seller terms. This is especially important for electronics, whose return window may be shorter.
- Check whether the item or its condition is excluded. Some product categories and condition changes can make a return ineligible.
- Decide whether the process suits the purchase. Consider the item’s price and importance alongside the return deadline, mailing requirement, refund method, and any return-flow conditions.
- Compare like with like. When evaluating another retailer, compare the return window and when it starts, item and condition exclusions, postage cost and free-return limit, deadline after requesting a return, refund destination, and whether you must send the item back.
Temu’s detailed support guidance is localized, and the available US-facing support information does not spell out every order-specific term. Check the live policy attached to your account and order before purchase or return. The policy can help you judge the return process, but it cannot by itself settle whether shopping there is worthwhile for your needs.
