As of October 8, 2026, no TELUS announcement confirming a 2026 “Buy One, Give One” Black Friday promotion or its terms is established here. The campaign has appeared in past years: TELUS announced a 2021 offer, and MobileSyrup reported a 2025 version. Those past details can explain how it worked, but they do not confirm this year’s dates, eligibility, donation limit or recipient groups.
How the promotion worked in past years
The basic idea was to connect an eligible TELUS phone sale and activation with a phone and mobility plan for someone in need through the company’s Mobility for Good program. The exact conditions differed by year, so the offers should not be combined into a single set of rules.
TELUS’s 2021 offer
In its November 25, 2021 announcement, TELUS said that for every eligible phone purchased and activated from November 25 through 29, it would provide a phone and mobility plan to a Canadian in need through Mobility for Good. TELUS said the offer was available across Canada, online and in stores, and included certified pre-owned phones.
The 2021 release described Mobility for Good as supporting youth leaving foster care and Indigenous women surviving violence. These are the recipient groups named in that year’s announcement, not a confirmation of current program eligibility.

MobileSyrup’s report on the 2025 offer
MobileSyrup reported on November 26, 2025 that the promotion ran November 28–30 and required a new or certified pre-owned phone, a postpaid activation and a two-year TELUS Easy Payment financing plan. The article reported a maximum of 5,000 donated phones. These are reported 2025 terms, not verified rules for 2026.
MobileSyrup’s 2025 report named youth aging out of government care, government-assisted refugees, and Indigenous women at risk of or surviving violence as recipient groups. Its descriptions differ from TELUS’s 2021 list; neither should be presented as a definitive current list without current program terms.
What to verify before buying for a 2026 promotion
Because no 2026 terms are established, do not assume that a purchase will trigger a donation based on a prior year’s offer. If TELUS announces a new campaign, check its terms for the specific offer year and confirm:

- which devices qualify, including whether certified pre-owned phones are included;
- whether activation with TELUS, a postpaid plan or a financing agreement is required;
- the recipient groups and how donations are fulfilled through Mobility for Good; and
- whether a donation cap applies and how the cap is counted.
The historical campaign was tied to a TELUS activation, so a phone bought elsewhere should not be assumed to qualify. A promotion’s donation claim also does not, on its own, show that the purchase is the lowest-cost option: compare the phone’s total financing cost and required service plan with alternatives before committing.

MobileSyrup’s 2025 report said the campaign had a cap of up to 5,000 donated phones. It also reported, attributing the figure to TELUS, that Mobility for Good had supported more than 69,000 people since launching in 2017. Both figures refer to the 2025 report; they are not 2026 campaign results or a current donation count.
