An EE Times article from February 2022 described record revenues at Apple, Samsung, and Intel alongside weaker-than-expected results at Lam Research—but it does not explain the causes or describe current conditions.

Apple, Samsung, and Intel were reported to have posted record revenues in the week covered by an EE Times article published February 1, 2022, even as semiconductor supply-chain disruption continued. The same summary said chip-equipment maker Lam Research had results below expectations and dwindling sales. The report offers a snapshot of sharply different outcomes—not evidence that shortages affected every company alike, or that the conditions still apply in 2026.

What the February 2022 report said

EE Times’ February 1, 2022 archive listing credits the article to Stefani Munoz and summarizes a contrast: Apple, Samsung, and Intel reportedly recorded record revenues during the week covered, while Lam Research had lower-than-expected results and dwindling sales. The author archive likewise described supply-chain disruptions as expected to continue into 2022.

That is a qualitative summary, not a financial comparison. The available EE Times archive summaries do not provide the revenue figures, the periods used to define “record,” or a detailed explanation of why the companies’ reported outcomes differed. They also do not establish that every company faced shortages in the same way. EE Times archive listing; Stefani Munoz author archive.

Why the headline’s contrast matters

The companies named in the summary occupy different positions in the technology industry: Apple, Samsung, and Intel are technology companies, while Lam Research supplies semiconductor-manufacturing equipment. Their contrasting reported results show that a disrupted supply chain can coincide with strong results at some firms and weaker results at another. The summary does not identify a particular mechanism—such as pricing, product mix, customer demand, or production capacity—as the cause of that difference, so attributing it to any one factor would go beyond the evidence.

What the report does not establish

  • Exact financial results: No revenue totals, growth rates, or comparison periods appear in the available summaries.
  • Company-specific causes: The summaries do not explain what drove the reported results for any of the four companies.
  • Present-day conditions: The article and its supply-chain framing date to February 2022. They are not a current account of shortages or company performance in 2026.

For a personal-finance reader, the safe takeaway is limited: the 2022 summary described uneven business outcomes during a period of supply-chain disruption. It is not enough to assess a company’s current financial health or make an investment decision.
