The American Express presale site and Ticketek’s presale site experienced separate technical problems in June 2023 as fans tried to buy tickets for Taylor Swift’s February 2024 Australian shows. The available reports do not verify how the Perth Swiftie referenced in the original headline secured tickets. The concerts were scheduled in Melbourne and Sydney—not Perth.
Two presale problems, on different days
The reported crashes were separate incidents on different platforms, not one continuous outage.
| Date | Platform and sale | What was reported |
|---|---|---|
| 26 June 2023 | American Express presale packages for Sydney | The Guardian reported that the American Express ticket site crashed about half an hour before some packages were due to go on sale. American Express directed fans to Ticketek links and later attributed the technical difficulties to high demand. Melbourne packages were available later that day. The Guardian’s 26 June report. |
| 28 June 2023 | Frontier Touring presale on Ticketek | PerthNow reported that Ticketek’s website crashed minutes into the presale for Melbourne and Sydney. It reported that more than one million fans were competing for 450,000 tickets; that figure is PerthNow’s reported estimate, not a primary-source statistic verified here. PerthNow’s 28 June report. |
Were there Taylor Swift Eras Tour shows in Perth?
No Perth date appears in Frontier Touring’s Australian tour FAQ. It lists three Melbourne Cricket Ground shows on 16–18 February 2024 and four Sydney Accor Stadium shows on 23–26 February 2024. Frontier Touring’s FAQ identifies Ticketek as the only authorised ticketing agency for the Australian shows.
The source reports establish that the ticketing sites had technical difficulties, but they do not verify the identity, experience or purchase route of the particular Perth fan described in the headline. It would be misleading to infer that the fan attended a Perth concert or to invent an account of how the tickets were obtained.

What the official resale guidance meant
Frontier Touring said resale was prohibited except through Ticketek’s official resale platform. Its FAQ clarified that Ticketek Marketplace was for existing ticket holders to sell valid tickets; it was not a release of additional new tickets. Those instructions applied to the 2024 event, which has passed.
Can you still get tickets to the 2024 shows?
No current ticket purchase option for those Australian shows is established by the available official pages. Ticketek’s Taylor Swift event page says the Eras Tour has left Australia and invites fans to join a waitlist for future events. Joining it does not book a ticket. Ticketek’s current event page.

Ticketek’s general advice for future sales
Ticketek’s help page says official tickets can be purchased through its website, app or agencies. For a future on-sale, it advises signing in close to the sale time with account and payment details ready. It also cautions against using multiple browsers, windows, tabs or devices, which can slow access and interfere with booking. These are general current instructions, not a guarantee of access and not evidence of what the Perth fan did during the 2023 presale. Ticketek’s ticket-purchasing help page.
