Taylor Sheridan is expected to move his television deal from Paramount to NBCUniversal after his Paramount agreement ends in 2028, with NBCUniversal TV work reportedly starting in 2029. The deal has been described as a five-year agreement that could be worth up to $1 billion if projects succeed—but that is a conditional reported ceiling, not a confirmed guaranteed payment. Paramount is reported to retain its existing Sheridan series and related future seasons or spinoffs.

When is Taylor Sheridan leaving Paramount?

Sheridan’s Paramount television agreement is reported to run through the end of 2028. The Associated Press reported on Oct. 7, 2026, that he will then move to NBCUniversal; his new television work there is expected to begin in 2029. Associated Press

When does Taylor Sheridan’s NBCUniversal deal start?

The reported five-year agreement separates film and television timing: Sheridan may make movies for NBCUniversal before 2029, while television work is expected to start after his Paramount deal ends. Those terms come from a Wall Street Journal report, reproduced in a PDF, rather than a publicly released contract. The report also describes a separate NBCUniversal first-look deal with 101 Studios, effective in 2026. The Wall Street Journal report

How much is Taylor Sheridan’s NBCUniversal deal worth?

The Wall Street Journal reported that the five-year deal could be worth up to $1 billion, depending on how Sheridan’s projects perform. Treat that as a reported potential value tied to project success—not a disclosed fee or a guaranteed payment. The Los Angeles Times said financial terms were not disclosed. Are Yellowstone and the other Sheridan shows moving to NBCUniversal?

No wholesale move of Sheridan’s existing Paramount shows has been reported. The Los Angeles Times reported that Paramount would retain the library of his existing series, as well as subsequent seasons and spinoffs of those shows. The reported NBCUniversal agreement concerns future work, not an immediate transfer of Yellowstone or the other Paramount titles. Los Angeles Times

Paramount’s slate also continues during the transition. The Associated Press reported on Oct. 7, 2026, that Paramount+ had forthcoming seasons of Landman and Tulsa King, along with more Yellowstone spinoffs, prequels, and sequels. The report did not give release dates for those projects. Associated Press

A separate example of work remaining under existing arrangements is the Call of Duty feature film announced by Paramount Pictures and Activision on Oct. 30, 2025. Sheridan was named as a co-writer and producer, with Peter Berg directing and also producing. Associated Press

Why is Taylor Sheridan leaving Paramount?

Reports attributed the move to disagreements with Paramount’s new leadership over creative direction, spending, pitches, and the handling of projects and collaborators. The Wall Street Journal report also described a rejected film script as part of the dispute. The Los Angeles Times, citing two people familiar with the matter, said the move was not based on money and reported that the departure of two creative partners contributed to the decision, attributing that detail to Puck.
