The available evidence does not establish which components are involved, where they would be made, or whether production is underway. Later company announcements describe separate European Stinger plans and a Tata agreement for a different missile, Javelin.
What is known about the Tata–Raytheon Stinger relationship?
A 2025 report by Dhirendra Securities and Investments on Bharat Dynamics says Tata Advanced Systems partnered with Raytheon to produce components for Stinger missile systems. The report is the source for the claim; the available material does not include a primary announcement from either company that confirms the agreement or sets out its terms. Dhirendra Securities and Investments report
The report passage does not name the components, production site, output, agreement date, or current status. It therefore supports describing a reported partnership, but not asserting that components are currently being manufactured or that production is located in India.
How does the reported partnership compare with later announcements?
| Program and date | Announcement or instrument | Partners and geography | What the source establishes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stinger, reported in a 2025 report | Partnership reported by Dhirendra Securities and Investments | Tata Advanced Systems and Raytheon; location not stated | A secondary report says the companies partnered to produce components. Specific scope and current status are not established. Source |
| Stinger, August 19, 2025 | Memorandum of understanding | Raytheon and Diehl Defence; European production | The companies said the MOU laid groundwork for co-producing key elements in Europe. It does not establish completed production. Raytheon announcement |
| Stinger, July 7, 2026 | Production expansion announcement | Raytheon with Diehl Defence and Dutch suppliers; final assembly, testing, and completion planned in the Netherlands | Raytheon said it was working with European companies to double production. Diehl was to make the guidance section and Dutch suppliers other major assemblies. The announcement does not name Tata. Raytheon announcement |
| Javelin, August 30, 2026 | Memorandum of understanding | Tata Advanced Systems and the Javelin Joint Venture, a Raytheon–Lockheed Martin partnership; proposed facility in India | The MOU explores a Javelin All Up Round final-assembly and integration facility and component production capabilities. It is not a Stinger agreement. Tata Advanced Systems announcement |
Does the reported arrangement mean Stinger components are being made in India?
That is not established by the available sources. The brokerage report identifies Tata and Raytheon as partners for component production but does not give a location. Raytheon’s later Stinger announcements describe European partners and planned work in Europe; they neither confirm nor disprove a separate Tata arrangement.

Raytheon said in its July 2026 announcement that Stinger was used by 24 countries, including 10 NATO members. It also quoted Tom Laliberty, president of Land & Air Defense Systems at Raytheon, saying, “We are laser-focused on doubling our Stinger missile production capacity.” That is a statement of company intent, not evidence that capacity has already doubled or that the reported Tata partnership is producing components. In March 2016, Raytheon said India had agreed with the U.S. Department of Defense to acquire 245 air-to-air Stinger missiles, launchers, and engineering support. This is historical procurement information; it does not show that the missiles or their components were manufactured in India. Raytheon announcement
