TalkTalk Business acquired Oxfordshire-based Planet IT on 24 March 2026, adding managed IT support, cybersecurity and Microsoft cloud capabilities to its connectivity and communications portfolio. The move is intended to advance TalkTalk Business’s stated shift toward managed network services. Deal terms were not disclosed, and the announcement does not set out new bundles, pricing or an integration timetable.

What TalkTalk Business acquired

TalkTalk Business announced the acquisition of Planet IT on 24 March 2026. Planet IT provides managed IT support, cybersecurity, Microsoft 365 and Azure-related services, and IT consultancy for SME and enterprise customers. The companies did not disclose the purchase price or other financial terms. TalkTalk Business’s announcement and MicroScope’s report describe Planet IT as an established provider; their stated operating-history figures differ, so a more precise age is not clear from the public accounts.

Planet IT’s founders, Gavin Jones and Sean Smith, and its leadership team are staying with the business, according to Planet IT’s announcement. That points to leadership continuity at the outset, not proof that the companies’ systems or services have already been integrated.

What Planet IT adds to TalkTalk Business

TalkTalk Business already provides business connectivity, data, voice, network infrastructure and unified communications. Planet IT adds the IT operations and cloud-and-security layer that can sit alongside those services.

The combination could let TalkTalk Business offer customers a wider set of services through fewer suppliers. The company describes its direction as becoming a managed network services provider. That is a stated strategy, not evidence that every service is already bundled or that customers have moved to a single support model.

Why the acquisition matters after TalkTalk Business’s separation

The deal followed TalkTalk Business’s separation from TalkTalk Group and is its first visible expansion move in that newly independent phase, as the company presents it. Strategic logic is straightforward: connectivity can be paired with managed workplace IT, cloud support and security, giving the provider a broader role in business technology relationships.

  • Speed up your tasks with AI: Unlock new levels of productivity and creativity by upgrading to Intel Core Ultra processors with built-in AI.
  • Supports multiple monitors: Connect up to four FHD monitors using DisplayPort and Daisy Chaining*. Or connect two 4K displays using HDMI 2.1 port and DisplayPort.
  • Effortless upgrades: The tool-less entry and removable side panel let you quickly access the internal components, making upgrades convenient and stress-free.
  • Ready for business: Keep your data secure with a hardware TPM security chip. And when you need to step away from your desk, simply secure your desktop using the built-in lock slot or padlock loop.
  • Style meets sustainability: Dell Tower Desktop seamlessly combines elegance with sustainability. Its sleek, modern design, crafted from recycled materials and featuring refined corners, makes it a stylish addition to any home or office.

For Planet IT, joining a larger connectivity provider may offer access to a broader customer and network base. For TalkTalk Business, Planet IT brings specialist staff and existing managed-services experience. Cross-selling and higher customer value are plausible aims, but no post-acquisition revenue, customer-growth or performance figures have been published. The deal also does not establish how it was financed or whether further acquisitions are planned.

What customers should expect now

For Planet IT customers

Planet IT’s customer and supplier statement says existing contacts, helpdesk routes, contracts and operational arrangements remain in place initially. It also says current service-level agreements are expected to continue and that future contractual or billing changes will be communicated in advance. The statement describes the immediate position; it is not a permanent guarantee against later changes.

  • Operating System: Windows 11 Pro (64-bit)

The same statement cites Planet IT’s ISO 27001:2022 and Cyber Essentials Plus arrangements. Customers should confirm which certification scope applies to the specific contracted service rather than assume that every acquired or combined service is covered identically.

For TalkTalk Business customers

The acquisition makes Planet IT’s managed IT and security capabilities part of a broader potential proposition. It does not establish that all TalkTalk Business customers automatically receive those services, that they are included at no extra cost, or that every customer is eligible. The public announcements do not specify bundle contents, prices, service coverage, contracting arrangements or whether a shared support team will handle IT incidents.

What buyers and partners still need to clarify

Before buying, renewing or changing suppliers, customers should establish exactly who is responsible for each service and how incidents are handled. Useful questions include:

  • Which legal entity contracts for connectivity, IT support, Microsoft licensing and security services?
  • Does each service have a separate SLA, and who owns escalation during a major incident?
  • Are Microsoft licences included, resold separately or supplied under the customer’s existing agreement?
  • What security monitoring is provided, during which hours, and who responds to incidents?
  • Will data-processing arrangements, subprocessors or certification scope change?
  • Are onboarding, migration, renewal and exit terms different across the services?

For channel partners and MSPs, the acquisition may make TalkTalk Business a more direct competitor in managed IT while also creating the possibility of a broader connectivity-and-services relationship. No formal wholesale, referral, white-label or partner-compensation model has been disclosed, so those arrangements should be confirmed directly rather than assumed.

What the deal does not yet establish

  • The acquisition price, Planet IT’s revenue, headcount, customer numbers or expected contribution to TalkTalk Business.
  • A timetable for brand, billing, systems or service-desk integration.
  • Specific cybersecurity products, monitoring hours, response times or supported Microsoft products.
  • Whether services will be bundled, what they will cost, or which customers can buy them.
  • Immediate customer migration, revenue growth or a measurable change in market share.
  • Plans for additional acquisitions.

That leaves the transaction strategically meaningful but commercially difficult to assess from public information alone. Its importance is the breadth it is intended to add—not a disclosed financial outcome or a finished, unified service offer.
