Rockstar Games announced on March 3, 2025, that it would acquire Sydney-based Video Games Deluxe and rename it Rockstar Australia. What Take-Two and Rockstar announced
Rockstar Games said it would acquire Video Games Deluxe, a Sydney-based development studio, and bring it into the company as Rockstar Australia. The announcement did not disclose the purchase price or other transaction terms. Take-Two Interactive’s March 3, 2025 announcement framed the move as a continuation of a working relationship that had lasted for years.

Rockstar Head of Publishing Jennifer Kolbe said, “After working together closely over many years, we are excited to have Video Games Deluxe join the team as Rockstar Australia.” Founder Brendan McNamara described the studio’s decade of work with Rockstar and said it was pleased to join the company.
What Video Games Deluxe worked on
Rockstar’s announcement named several past collaborations, including the 2017 re-releases of L.A. Noire and L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files, as well as upgrades to Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition for iOS, Android, Netflix, and modern consoles. It also connected the relationship to McNamara’s former studio, Team Bondi, and the creation of L.A. Noire.

The same company description said Rockstar and its parent, Take-Two Interactive, had sold in more than 440 million units worldwide. That is the company’s stated sold-in figure; it is not an independently audited measure of sales attributable to Video Games Deluxe.
Is Rockstar Australia working on GTA VI?
The acquisition announcement does not say that Rockstar Australia is assigned to GTA VI, and the available official statements cited here do not confirm such an assignment. The studio’s history of work on Rockstar releases may prompt speculation about future projects, but it is not evidence of a specific role in GTA VI development.

Rockstar’s official GTA VI page lists the game for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S and displays pre-order options. That product information does not identify Rockstar Australia as a developer or otherwise establish the studio’s involvement.
GTA VI’s current release date
As listed on Rockstar’s official page on October 8, 2026, GTA VI is scheduled for November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Release dates and pre-order availability can change, so consult the live Rockstar GTA VI page for the current listing.
Take-Two’s May 2, 2025 statement that the game was planned for May 26, 2026 is historical, not the current schedule. That date followed an earlier Fall 2025 plan; in the May announcement, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said the company supported Rockstar taking additional time to realize its creative vision. The later date on Rockstar’s official page supersedes that older plan.
