Synapse proposed selling its assets to TabaPay for $9.7 million on the day it filed for Chapter 11, but the available records do not confirm that the sale was approved or completed. The distinction matters: a proposed transaction is not proof that ownership transferred.

What happened between Synapse and TabaPay?

Synapse Financial Technologies filed a voluntary Chapter 11 petition on April 22, 2024, according to the case listing. A June 20, 2024 trustee status-report excerpt says Synapse also sought court approval that day to sell all its assets to TabaPay for $9.7 million. That figure was the proposed sale price, not a verified closing value. The trustee-report excerpt describes a request for approval, not a final sale order.

A contemporaneous Yahoo Finance page republished a TechCrunch headline describing TabaPay as buying Synapse’s assets. That headline does not independently establish that a transaction closed. The report should therefore be read alongside the court-related record, which describes a proposed sale.

What did Synapse do?

Synapse was a technology company, not a consumer bank or a consumer-facing product seller in the transaction described here. A reproduced court order characterizes its proprietary software as enabling fintech platforms to provide financial products and services through banking providers and other financial-technology providers. The court-order text gives the business context for why the proposed transaction involved software and business assets.

In the trustee-report excerpt, Synapse’s court representation described its software as enabling fintechs to deliver certain financial products and services to their customers, referred to as “end users or depositors,” through banking and technology providers. This is a description of Synapse’s role in the infrastructure chain; it does not by itself say what would happen to any particular customer account or service.

Did TabaPay complete the purchase?

The sources available here do not verify that TabaPay’s proposed acquisition was approved or closed. The trustee-report excerpt supports the existence and proposed price of the sale, while the contemporaneous headline reports it as a purchase. Neither establishes a final transfer of the assets. A final sale order or closing record would be needed to state that the deal was completed.

What happened to Synapse’s bankruptcy case?

The BKAlerts case listing reports that the Chapter 11 case was dismissed on November 12, 2025. That listing does not explain why the case was dismissed, and the date alone does not establish whether Synapse’s assets transferred to TabaPay. The case’s procedural disposition and the outcome of the proposed asset sale are separate questions; the underlying docket or dismissal order is needed to describe the legal consequences.
