T-Mobile’s current network trial, called T-Mobile Trial (formerly Network Pass), lets eligible customers test T-Mobile service for 30 days by adding a temporary eSIM to a compatible phone. Your existing carrier service and phone number stay active, so you can try T-Mobile data without porting your number or cancelling your current plan.
How T-Mobile Trial works
You sign up in the T-Life app and install T-Mobile as a secondary provider using eSIM. T-Mobile describes the offer as a way to try its network while keeping your existing phone and carrier: T-Mobile Trial offer. During setup, T-Mobile recommends choosing its line for mobile data while leaving your current line available for calls and messages. That lets you use your usual number while testing T-Mobile data in places you regularly go.

Start on Wi-Fi and follow the prompts in T-Life. Activation steps differ among iPhone, Samsung and other Android devices, so there is no single button sequence that applies to every phone. T-Mobile says T-Life can also provide a personalized coverage and performance report. See its T-Mobile Trial support guide for device-specific instructions.

The offer is free, requires no credit card or credit check, and automatically ends after 30 days. T-Mobile says it is limited to one trial per user. You need active service with a non-T-Mobile carrier and a qualifying phone that is both unlocked and eSIM-capable. The support guide lists iPhone XS/XR and later, Pixel 3 and later, and selected Samsung Galaxy families; a family name alone does not guarantee that every model or carrier variant qualifies.

T-Mobile’s current offer page excludes people who were customers of T-Mobile, Metro by T-Mobile, or a partner using the T-Mobile network during the previous 90 days. The offer page also says people who used T-Mobile Trial or Network Pass in the previous 12 months are ineligible. However, T-Mobile’s support guide says six months for a prior trial. Those official pages conflict, so check eligibility in T-Life rather than assuming the shorter period applies. Terms and device eligibility can change; the current offer page is T-Mobile’s source for the advertised 30-day offer.
What the trial includes—and its limits
The trial gives you a practical way to assess T-Mobile in your own routine, but its advertised features have conditions:
Rank #2
- YOUR CONTENT, SUPER SMOOTH: The ultra-clear 6.7" FHD+ Super AMOLED display of Galaxy A17 5G helps bring your content to life, whether you're scrolling through recipes or video chatting with loved ones.¹
- LIVE FAST. CHARGE FASTER: Focus more on the moment and less on your battery percentage with Galaxy A17 5G. Super Fast Charging powers up your battery so you can get back to life sooner.²
- MEMORIES MADE PICTURE PERFECT: Capture every angle in stunning clarity, from wide family photos to close-ups of friends, with the triple-lens camera on Galaxy A17 5G.
- NEED MORE STORAGE? WE HAVE YOU COVERED: With an improved 2TB of expandable storage, Galaxy A17 5G makes it easy to keep cherished photos, videos and important files readily accessible whenever you need them.³

- Hotspot: Up to 250 GB of high-speed mobile hotspot data; after that, hotspot data continues at maximum 3G speeds.
- Video: Video typically streams in SD unless you activate up to 4K UHD streaming on a capable device.
- T-Satellite: The offer includes T-Satellite, but only supported devices can use it. Satellite service may be delayed, limited or unavailable, and app performance may differ from traditional cellular service.
- Coverage and device fit: Coverage is not available everywhere. T-Mobile says a different device may be needed to get full coverage after switching.
- Existing plan: Your current carrier’s terms continue to apply while that service remains active.
T-Mobile’s support guide also describes trial access to benefits such as Scam Block, T-Mobile Tuesdays perks, selected in-flight Wi-Fi and use in Canada and Mexico. Availability and conditions may apply; consult T-Mobile’s current offer and support information rather than treating every benefit as universal.
How to make the trial a useful comparison
A nationwide network claim cannot tell you how service will perform at your home, workplace or on your commute. Test the places and tasks that matter to you, and compare what happens on T-Mobile data with what you normally experience on your current carrier.

- Check local performance: Try indoor and outdoor use at home and work, along regular routes, and in other places you visit. Test the activities you rely on, such as calls over apps, navigation, streaming or downloads.
- Confirm the exact phone: Check that your model is eSIM-capable and eligible, and ask your current carrier to confirm it is unlocked. Some phones also have a limit on the number of eSIMs they can store.
- Verify the line settings: Make sure T-Mobile is selected for mobile data while your existing line remains available for the number and communications you want to keep.
- Consider the limits that affect you: If you depend on hotspot data, account for the 250 GB high-speed allowance and subsequent maximum 3G speeds. Check whether the video setting and conditional satellite availability suit your needs.
- Check eligibility and terms: Use T-Life to confirm that you qualify, especially if you previously tried T-Mobile or used service from T-Mobile, Metro or a T-Mobile-network partner.
T-Mobile cites Ookla Speedtest Intelligence data from 1H 2026 for its “Best Mobile Network” claim, but the cited offer material does not provide a numeric comparative result. An award claim is not a substitute for testing service in the places you use your phone.
Fix signup or eSIM problems
If signup or the eSIM download fails, T-Mobile’s support guide recommends checking that Wi-Fi and internet access are working, then trying again. For an incompatible-phone message, use this checklist:

What happens when the 30 days end?
T-Mobile says the trial automatically ends after 30 days. If you do not want to switch, its support guide says to remove the T-Mobile eSIM. If you decide to move your service to T-Mobile, the guide directs you to T-Mobile online or a store. Your existing carrier remains responsible for its own plan and terms while that service is active.
