Are T-Mobile settlement checks going out? The official settlement website says the initial distribution is complete, the deadline to request a reissue has passed, and a residual distribution is expected later in 2026. It does not say that residual payments are being sent now or publish a mailing date or individual payment amount. Claims that checks are going out or that payments exceed expectations are not confirmed by the official information available as of October 8, 2026.
What is the current status of T-Mobile settlement payments?
The payments concern the 2021 T-Mobile data-breach class action, case 4:21-md-03019-BCW in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri, Western Division. T-Mobile announced the breach on August 16, 2021, and the court granted final approval of the settlement on June 29, 2023. The court-approved administrator, Kroll Settlement Administration, says the initial distribution has concluded and the deadline to request a reissue of an initial payment has passed. Its site says a residual distribution is expected later in 2026, but does not confirm it has started or give a date. Official settlement status.
How much is the T-Mobile settlement check?
There is no published estimate for an individual residual payment. The settlement FAQ describes original benefit terms, not a promised amount for a later distribution. Depending on their approved claims, eligible members could claim up to $25,000 for qualifying unreimbursed out-of-pocket losses tied to the breach, and lost-time payments at $25 per hour or documented hourly wages for time taken off work. The alternative cash payment was $25, or $100 for class members who resided in California on August 1, 2021. These figures do not establish what any person will receive in a residual distribution. Settlement FAQ.
The FAQ says eligible remaining funds are added pro rata to approved out-of-pocket loss, lost-time, and alternative-cash claims. It also says specified cash payments may be reduced pro rata if they exceed the settlement fund. The fund also covers approved claims, identity-defense and restoration services, notice and administration, service awards, and court-approved attorneys’ fees and expenses. The FAQ further states that funds remaining because checks were not negotiated or tax information was missing will not be returned to T-Mobile, subject to distribution to class members or court order.

How do I check my T-Mobile settlement payment status?
- Start at the authorized settlement website. Use the official case site for updates rather than relying on reposted messages or online anecdotes.
- Contact Kroll if your individual question is unresolved. The administrator lists 1-833-512-2314 and email and mail contact options on its contact page. Include your Class Member ID if you received an email or postcard and have the ID available.
- Verify suspicious notices through those published channels. The administrator says its settlement site is the only authorized website for this case. Do not pay a fee to obtain a settlement payment or enter sensitive information through an unsolicited link.
Is this T-Mobile settlement check real?
A claim that a residual check is being mailed now, or that its amount is higher than expected, is not confirmed by the official status page as of October 8, 2026. That does not by itself establish whether a particular message or payment is genuine. Verify the notice with Kroll using the official contact details rather than clicking an unsolicited link. Do not infer an expected amount from an individual recipient’s online post.
What T-Mobile benefits may still be available?
The official status page says eligible class members may still enroll in Identity Defense Services monitoring or use Restoration Services if they experienced identity theft or fraud, even if they did not submit a claim. Check the current FAQ for enrollment details and eligibility information.

Do not confuse this case with the FTC’s T-Mobile refund program
A separate FTC refund program concerns third-party charges added to T-Mobile phone bills before 2014, often around $9.99 a month. It is not the 2021 data-breach settlement, and it has a different administrator and basis for payment.
| Payment matter | Underlying issue | Administrator | Payment type |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2021 data-breach class action | Claims related to the breach T-Mobile announced in August 2021 | Kroll Settlement Administration | Settlement benefits, including approved claims and any eligible residual distribution |
| Pre-2014 billing-charge refunds | Third-party charges on T-Mobile bills | Federal Trade Commission (FTC) | Refunds to eligible customers who did not cash earlier checks or accept PayPal payments |
The FTC says T-Mobile agreed to pay at least $90 million for refunds and that prior refund efforts had returned more than $24.3 million. In February 2025, the FTC described Zelle payments to some remaining eligible recipients. Those figures and payments belong to the separate billing-charge program, not the data-breach settlement. See the FTC’s T-Mobile refund information.
