Starlink Mini at Costco: Unpacking the Price and Features

Starlink’s Mini starts at $199 direct in the U.S., but Costco’s current availability and promotions are unverified. Here’s how to compare the true first-year cost and features.

Bottom line: As of August 18, 2026, Starlink lists the U.S. Starlink Mini Kit from $199, but I could not verify a current official Costco.com listing, Costco price, or active Costco service-credit promotion. Costco is worth considering only if its live all-in price—hardware, membership, shipping, tax, and confirmed credits—beats buying directly from Starlink. Starlink service is a separate monthly subscription.

Is Starlink Mini sold at Costco right now?

Costco availability should be treated as unconfirmed unless you can see a current Costco product page or verify inventory at a warehouse. Costco sometimes sells electronics online, in warehouses, or through marketplace sellers, and those are not interchangeable.

Before buying, confirm all of the following:

  • The listing says Starlink Mini Kit, not the separate Router Mini accessory.
  • The item is sold by Costco rather than a third-party marketplace seller.
  • The item number, stock status, shipping charge, and estimated delivery date are shown.
  • The box is new and intended for the U.S. market, rather than refurbished or imported.
  • Any activation credit, gift card, or service credit includes its amount, expiration date, eligibility rules, and required plan.

An out-of-stock Costco page is not the same as current availability, and a warehouse sighting does not guarantee that the product is available on Costco.com. Historical reports of a Costco Starlink bundle with a two-month service credit date to December 2023; they do not establish a 2026 promotion.

For the current direct option, check Starlink’s U.S. Mini product page and enter your service address during checkout.

Starlink Mini Costco price versus buying direct

Starlink’s official U.S. page currently advertises the Mini Kit from $199, checked August 18, 2026. That is a hardware price, not a year of internet service. Costco’s current hardware price could not be verified from an official indexed U.S. listing.

Purchase route Hardware Membership Service Credits First-year calculation
Starlink direct Verify checkout None Address- and plan-specific Confirmed Starlink credits only Hardware + 12 months of service
Existing Costco member Verify Costco checkout $0 incremental cost Address- and plan-specific Confirmed Costco credits only Hardware + service + tax/shipping − credits
New Gold Star member Verify Costco checkout $65/year Address- and plan-specific Confirmed credits only Hardware + $65 + service + tax/shipping − credits
New Executive member Verify Costco checkout $130/year Address- and plan-specific Confirmed credits only Hardware + $130 + service + tax/shipping − credits

Costco currently lists Gold Star membership at $65 and Executive membership at $130 per year. Executive members may receive a 2% reward on qualifying Costco purchases, subject to Costco’s terms, exclusions, and reward timing. Do not count that reward as an immediate Starlink discount unless you know the purchase qualifies.

Illustrative first-year totals

For perspective only, if checkout offered the $199 hardware price and a $50-per-month Residential plan, the pre-tax, pre-shipping totals would be:

  • Existing Costco member: $799 ($199 + $600 service).
  • New Gold Star member: $864 ($199 + $65 membership + $600 service).
  • New Executive member: $929 ($199 + $130 membership + $600 service).

These are examples, not a universal Starlink price quote. Starlink displays different rates by address, market, plan, promotion, and date. Use the service-plan page and your checkout total for the actual comparison. Add sales tax, shipping, mounting equipment, and power accessories where applicable.

What comes in the Starlink Mini Kit?

Starlink’s specifications list these included items:

  • Starlink Mini terminal with integrated Wi-Fi.
  • Kickstand.
  • Mini Pipe Adapter and flat mount.
  • 15-meter (49.2-foot) DC power cable.
  • Power supply.
  • Starlink plug.

A complete retail kit is not a complete solution for every installation. A roof, pole, boat, vehicle, or permanent outdoor setup may need additional mounting hardware, cable routing, weatherproofing, grounding, or a different power arrangement.

Starlink Mini specifications

Specification Official figure or qualification

Starlink advertises speeds of up to 300+ Mbps. “Up to” is a capability claim, not a guarantee. Actual speeds depend on obstructions, weather, network congestion, plan prioritization, Wi-Fi conditions, and the devices using the connection. Residential Lite may be deprioritized during busy periods, while capped Roam plans can be constrained by their data allowance.

There is also an official-document discrepancy over package weight: the current product page shows 6.73 kg (14.83 lb), while an older official specification sheet lists 2.89 kg (6.37 lb) for the Mini Kit package. Use the live product page or the current package label when planning transport or shipping.

Does Starlink Mini work without a monthly subscription?

No. Buying the terminal does not prepay internet access. You need an eligible Starlink service plan for normal connectivity, and the plan is billed separately from the hardware.

Residential is generally intended for a fixed home address and unlimited data. Residential Lite can cost less where available but may receive lower priority at busy times. Roam is designed for RVs, campers, and travel; its data limits, standby or pause rules, geographic restrictions, international use, coastal coverage, and in-motion limitations depend on the selected plan and location.

Some Roam plans permit standby or pausing, but that does not make the hardware a free occasional-use service. Check the plan’s current rules before assuming you can suspend billing or use the terminal across borders.

Setup and power requirements

  1. Place the terminal outdoors with as clear a view of the sky as possible.
  2. Use the Starlink app’s obstruction-checking tool before choosing a permanent location.
  3. Connect the Starlink cable and power supply.
  4. Allow the terminal to orient and establish a connection.
  5. Configure the Wi-Fi network in the app.
  6. Only then install a permanent roof, pole, or vehicle mount.

The Mini is designed for self-installation and quick temporary deployment. It still needs reliable power and an unobstructed sky view. Trees, buildings, cliffs, rooflines, and heavy snow or rain can produce interruptions even when the terminal appears generally exposed.

Mini Mesh Wi-Fi Router Compatible with STARLINK Gen 2, Gen 3, Gen 4 & Mini Systems – Dual-Band Wireless Router, Mesh-Ready, Supports 128+ Devices
  • Compact & Modern Design – The Router Mini features a slim, minimalist profile (138 × 83.6 × 27 mm) that fits seamlessly into any home, office, or travel setup.

The DC input rating makes the Mini attractive for portable use, but power planning matters. Starlink’s USB-C arrangement requires the appropriate Starlink USB-C-to-barrel-jack accessory and a 100 W USB Power Delivery source supporting at least 20 V/5 A. A normal phone charger is not enough. Inverters also lose energy, and a 25–40 W average draw can materially reduce a battery station’s runtime overnight or over several days.

Vehicle users should verify that the outlet can deliver the required power, use a stable mount, and route cables so water cannot enter the vehicle or connector. Starting the engine does not prove that every USB outlet supports the necessary power profile.

Is the Mini good for an RV, camping, or remote work?

It can be a strong fit when cellular coverage is unreliable, the campsite has open sky, and you can carry enough battery capacity. The small terminal, integrated router, Ethernet port, and self-installation make it practical for temporary campsites, remote work, and emergency backup.

It is less suitable when the campsite is beneath dense trees, when you need uninterrupted service while moving, or when battery capacity is limited. Portability does not mean unrestricted use anywhere: the Roam plan and the destination country determine where and how the service may operate.

Starlink Mini versus Starlink Standard

Consideration Mini Standard
Best physical role Portable deployments, small homes, backup connectivity Permanent home installations and heavier household use
Router Integrated Wi-Fi 5 router Use the current Standard configuration and checkout details
Power 25–40 W average; useful DC input rating Compare current specifications for the exact model
Coverage Manufacturer claims up to 1,200 square feet May better suit larger homes, depending on network equipment
Promotions May have different availability or credits May be offered under different price and service terms

The Standard kit may be the better choice for a permanent installation or a larger household, but do not assume it is categorically faster or more reliable. Compare the live Starlink checkout and current Mini-versus-Standard guidance for your address.

The Mini’s router claims up to 1,200 square feet and up to 128 devices, but these are manufacturer specifications rather than guarantees of full-speed whole-home coverage. The Mini works with Starlink mesh systems and is listed as incompatible with third-party mesh systems.

Who should buy the Mini—and who should skip it?

Consider it if you:

  • Live beyond reliable cable, fiber, or cellular coverage.
  • Need portable internet for an RV or campsite with open sky.
  • Want a compact emergency-backup connection and have reliable backup power.
  • Prefer an integrated router and simple temporary setup.
  • Can verify a plan that supports your intended location and usage.

Skip it or compare alternatives first if you:

  • Already have dependable fiber, cable, or 5G home internet.
  • Cannot place the terminal away from trees and buildings.
  • Need a large-home Wi-Fi system without adding networking equipment.
  • Need service while traveling in motion or across regions not supported by your plan.
  • Would join Costco solely for a discount smaller than the membership fee.

A cellular hotspot or 5G home-internet plan may be cheaper and more convenient where coverage is strong. Satellite is more compelling in rural dead zones, but cellular service may still have congestion, data caps, and carrier restrictions.

Final Costco buying checklist

  1. Confirm that the product is the Starlink Mini Kit, not Router Mini.
  2. Verify the current Costco item number, seller, stock status, and shipping cost.
  3. Compare Costco’s live hardware price with Starlink’s direct price.
  4. Add $65 for a new Gold Star membership or $130 for Executive membership.
  5. Enter your service address on Starlink and confirm the exact available plans and monthly prices.
  6. Subtract only credits whose amount, expiration, activation requirement, and plan eligibility are documented.
  7. Include sales tax, mounting equipment, cable-routing supplies, and portable-power accessories.
  8. Read both Costco’s return terms and Starlink’s activation or equipment terms.
  9. Check the site with the Starlink app before committing to a permanent installation.
  10. Calculate the first-year total—not merely the dish’s sticker price.

If Costco has no verifiable active listing or its all-in total is not lower, buying directly from Starlink is usually the cleaner route: availability, address eligibility, plan selection, activation, accessories, and account management remain in one ecosystem. Costco becomes the better option only when a current, documented discount or service credit outweighs membership and other added costs.
