Star Citizen’s Funding Tracker Passed $800 Million in April 2025

Star Citizen’s public funding tracker passed $800 million by April 9, 2025. The figure is a reported tracker milestone, not an audited measure of CIG revenue, cash, or spending.

Star Citizen’s public funding tracker had passed $800 million by April 9, 2025, when PC Gamer reported a displayed total of $802,165,273. That is a tracker milestone—not proof that Cloud Imperium Games (CIG) recognized $802 million as revenue, held that amount in cash, or spent it all on development.

What the $800 million figure measures

RSI, the company’s Star Citizen website, labels its live figure “Funds Raised.” Its funding page presents the tracker alongside the campaign’s history. PC Gamer reported that the tracker showed $802,165,273 on April 9, 2025, establishing that the displayed total had crossed the $800 million threshold by that date.

The word “earned” can blur important financial distinctions. The tracker total is not, by itself, an audited accounting statement or a complete picture of CIG’s finances. The available sources do not reconcile it with recognized revenue, external financing, cash on hand, profit, or cumulative development spending.

Why a pledge total is not the same as revenue or cash

RSI describes customer contributions as pledges. Its Terms of Service say pledge funds may be used for development and production, operating and hosting costs, and related corporate expenses. That description explains permitted uses; it does not disclose how much has been spent, how much remains, or how the tracker maps to financial statements.

The Nosy Gamer reported an RSI tracker total of $807.5 million at the end of April 2025 and cautioned that the tracker was not a comprehensive accounting of all CIG revenue since the Kickstarter. That is an independent analysis, not an audited reconciliation of the company’s accounts. (The Nosy Gamer, May 2025.)

  • Tracker total: a public running figure labeled “Funds Raised” by RSI.
  • Recognized revenue: an accounting measure for a defined reporting period; the tracker figure does not establish it.
  • External financing: investment, loans, or other funding that may be separate from customer pledges; the cited tracker snapshots do not total it.
  • Cash or net assets: balance-sheet measures; neither can be inferred from a cumulative tracker.
  • Development spending: costs incurred over time; a funding milestone does not show how much has been spent.

What the milestone says about the game—and what it does not

RSI’s official page records the campaign’s 2012 start and preserves its historical funding goals. Those entries document past commitments; they are not evidence that every listed feature has been delivered. Under RSI’s current terms, Star Citizen remains in Alpha. Pledge entitlements vary and may include Open Alpha access, in-game items when developed and introduced, or Squadron 42.

A large cumulative funding figure does not settle whether or when the game will be finished. PC Gamer raised that question in its December 2025 report, but a tracker total alone cannot answer it. Funding raised, development progress, and delivery timelines are different questions.

Is $800 million the current total?

No current exact total is established here. The latest dated figure in the reports cited above is PC Gamer’s December 25, 2025 snapshot of $925,647,996; it should not be presented as the October 8, 2026 live total. RSI’s tracker is dynamic, so anyone citing a current amount should check the official funding page and state when it was viewed.
