The application window for SSB Odisha’s 2024 recruitment of 1,061 Post Graduate Teachers (PGTs) has closed. The written examination took place on 17 November 2024, and the State Selection Board’s results listing records final PGT results published on 8 April 2025. This guide explains what Advertisement No. 05/2024 required and where to check official recruitment updates; it is not an open application notice.
What was the SSB Odisha PGT recruitment 2024?
Advertisement No. 05/2024, dated 7 March 2024, invited applications for 1,061 direct-payment PGT posts in non-government aided higher secondary schools under Odisha’s School and Mass Education Department. The advertised pay scale was ₹44,900–₹1,42,400, Pay Matrix Level 10, Cell 1, plus usual admissible dearness allowance. These figures are from the State Selection Board, Odisha, 2024 advertisement. The application period ran from 18 March 2024 at 1:00 p.m. through 18 April 2024 at 11:45 p.m.; the fee-payment deadline was the same. Applications were online only, and the dates have passed. The official advertisement contains the recruitment terms.
Who was eligible?
Education and subject-specific B.Ed. requirement
Applicants needed a Master’s degree in the concerned subject, or the specified six-year integrated postgraduate Master’s course from an NCERT-recognized Regional College of Education, with at least 50% aggregate marks or an equivalent grade. The qualification had to be held by the application closing date.

A B.Ed. or equivalent recognized by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) was mandatory for these 13 subjects:
- Botany
- Chemistry
- Economics
- English
- Geography
- Hindi
- History
- Mathematics
- Odia
- Physics
- Political Science
- Sanskrit
- Zoology
The advertisement expressly did not require B.Ed. for Commerce, Education, Geology, Home Science, Logic and Philosophy, Psychology, Sociology, IRPM, Telugu, and Urdu. Applicants needed to check the subject-specific rule rather than assume the same B.Ed. condition applied to every post. The advertisement sets out the qualifications.
Age, citizenship and Odia proficiency
Applicants had to be 21–38 years old as of 1 January 2024, be Indian citizens, and be able to speak, read, and write Odia while meeting one of the advertisement’s specified ways of demonstrating proficiency. The date of birth recorded on a High School Certificate or equivalent was to be accepted.
The notice provided these upper-age relaxations:
- Five years for SC, ST, SEBC, women, and ex-servicemen.
- Ten years for PwD candidates with at least 40% permanent disability.
- Fifteen years for PwD candidates belonging to SC, ST, or SEBC categories.

What was the application fee?
The application fee was non-refundable and payable online when submitting the application.

How were candidates selected?
Selection combined a subject-specific written test worth 150 marks with a career assessment worth 50 marks, for 200 marks total, according to the State Selection Board, Odisha, 2024 advertisement. The notice describes the academic-qualification marks used in the career assessment and the method for resolving ties. The selection provisions are in Advertisement No. 05/2024.
Written-test format
- 100 multiple-choice questions, worth 1.5 marks each.
- 150 marks in total and two hours in duration.
- A 0.5-mark deduction for each wrong answer.
- Carbonless OMR answer sheets.
- Minimum qualifying marks: 40% for unreserved candidates and 30% for SC, ST, SEBC, and PwD candidates.
Exam date, zones and sittings
SSB Odisha scheduled the written examination for Sunday, 17 November 2024, across nine zones: Balasore, Berhampur, Bhawanipatna, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Jeypore, Keonjhar, Rourkela, and Sambalpur. Subjects were divided across three sittings. The official examination notice announced the date and zones.

Subjects were allocated across those sessions in the examination notice. PwD candidates were allowed 20 extra minutes per hour as described in the notice. The listing establishes that those notices were published on those dates; it does not, by itself, establish a complete subject-by-subject appointment count or whether every advertised post was filled.
