Spotify’s US Premium price increase is no longer just planned: the company announced it on January 15, 2026, and its US pricing page now lists Individual at $12.99 per month. The current listed prices for all four paid plans are below; existing subscribers should check Spotify’s email and account page for the date their new price takes effect.
Current Spotify Premium prices in the US
Spotify’s US Premium page lists these monthly prices as of October 8, 2026. Plan terms and promotional offers can change, and trial offers are limited by eligibility and their stated terms.

Spotify’s current plan details and terms are on its US Premium page. Check the address rules before choosing Duo or Family; a lower per-person cost does not make a household eligible if it does not meet Spotify’s terms.
What changed for US subscribers
Spotify announced on January 15, 2026 that Premium subscribers in the United States, Estonia, and Latvia would receive an email over the following month explaining the price update. The announcement means the increase is not awaiting confirmation. For the US Individual plan, TechCrunch reported a rise from $11.99 to $12.99 per month and described it as Spotify’s third US price increase in three years; that historical comparison is the outlet’s reporting, not a price table in Spotify’s announcement.

Spotify said its occasional market price updates reflect “the value that Spotify delivers,” and enable it to continue offering the service and benefit artists. That is the company’s stated rationale, not an independent assessment of its costs or the effect on artists.
When the new price applies to your account
The effective date can vary with your billing cycle. Spotify says it emails subscribers about the new price and provides a one-month grace period to cancel before the higher price takes effect. For subscribers on a trial, Spotify says the original price applies for one month after the trial ends, after which the new plan price applies. Your own email and account page are the best places to confirm the date and amount for your subscription.

- Check your Spotify account page and the email from Spotify for your plan’s billing date and price-change notice.
- If you do not want to continue at the new price, review your available options and act before the next billing date.
Options if you do not want to pay the new price
Spotify says subscribers can check whether they qualify for another paid plan, switch to the free ad-supported service, or cancel. Compare the account coverage and eligibility rules as well as the monthly price: Student is limited to eligible students, while Duo and Family require members to reside at the same address. If the free tier meets your needs, it avoids a Premium subscription charge but is a different listening experience.

At Spotify’s May 2026 Investor Day, Co-CEOs Alex Norström and Gustav Söderström described pricing as part of the company’s retention strategy: “Even our pricing is a retention story. We’ve raised prices multiple times with minimal churn because users see the value and stick around.” This is Spotify’s characterization of subscriber behavior, not an independent churn analysis.
