Spotify is expanding audiobook access to more than 180 markets by the end of 2026, with Audiobooks+ among the ways listeners can pay for additional listening hours. The add-on is not entirely new: Spotify introduced recurring Audiobooks+ options in some markets in July 2025. The October 7, 2026 announcement describes the wider rollout, but does not give prices or terms for any new tiers.
What is Spotify Audiobooks+?
Audiobooks+ is a paid add-on that gives eligible listeners additional audiobook listening hours. Spotify says availability and price vary by market, so there is no single global price or entitlement. Its October 7, 2026 announcement does not specify the names, monthly hours, prices, or start dates of new tiers.
Spotify had already introduced recurring Audiobooks+ add-ons in July 2025. At that launch, it described an extra 15 hours per month for eligible Premium Individual subscribers and managers of Family and Duo plans, plus access options for Family and Duo members. Those were launch terms for the markets and plans described at the time—not a current global eligibility chart. Spotify’s July 2025 announcement has the dated details.
How many audiobook hours come with Spotify Premium?
There is no single answer for every country or plan. In designated markets, Spotify’s October 2026 announcement says eligible Premium subscribers receive 12 audiobook hours per month. The announcement does not identify a complete list of qualifying plans and countries or say that this allowance applies worldwide. Check the audiobook terms shown for your country and plan before subscribing.

Spotify’s earlier July 2025 description used a different allowance: 15 additional monthly hours through Audiobooks+ for specified eligible subscribers and plan managers. That was an add-on allowance, not the same claim as the later announcement’s 12 hours included for eligible Premium subscribers in designated markets.
What are the ways to get audiobooks on Spotify?
The October 2026 announcement describes three routes. Which one is available depends on the market and, for included listening, eligibility under the listener’s Premium plan.
| Access route | What it means | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Premium listening | Eligible Premium subscribers in designated markets receive 12 audiobook hours monthly, according to Spotify’s October 2026 announcement. | Whether the allowance is offered in your country and included with your particular plan. |
| Audiobooks+ | A paid add-on for more listening hours. Spotify says any listener may add Audiobooks+ in markets where it is offered. | Local availability, price, hours, billing terms, and whether the offer is recurring or a one-time option. |
| Individual title purchase | Listeners can buy audiobook titles directly in markets where purchasing is available. | Whether a specific title can be purchased in your country and its local price. |
Spotify calls Audiobooks+ the primary access route in markets across Africa, Asia, and Argentina. That description does not mean every country in those regions has identical access or terms. Spotify’s October 7, 2026 announcement describes the expansion and access routes.
How much does Audiobooks+ cost?
Spotify has not published a universal price in the October announcement. It says pricing varies by market, and the announcement does not provide a new tier price list. Check the offer displayed in Spotify for your country rather than relying on a price quoted for another market or an earlier launch.

Can Spotify Family and Duo members get Audiobooks+?
Spotify’s July 2025 launch announcement described add-on access for Family and Duo plan members, as well as a one-time 10-hour top-up option for those members. It also described a separate recurring 15-hour monthly add-on for eligible plan managers. Those are dated launch details; Spotify’s October 2026 announcement does not set out a complete current eligibility matrix for Family, Duo, or other plans. Verify the offer for your account and country.
Where is Audiobooks+ available, and when?
Spotify says audiobook access is expanding from 22 markets to more than 180 by the end of 2026. It expects more than 750 million people to be able to stream or purchase books on Spotify through the expansion. These are company projections, not a claim that every market already has access as of October 7, 2026.
Spotify’s rollout announcement also said Student-plan audiobook availability was scheduled for November in Ireland, Belgium, Austria, and Finland, with additional markets planned in the coming year. Since these dates and market lists can change, check Spotify’s local audiobook information for current availability.
For context, the July 2025 Audiobooks+ launch covered the U.K., Australia, New Zealand, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Liechtenstein; Spotify had previously trialed the add-on in Ireland and Canada and scheduled U.S. options for August 5, 2025. Those dates describe the earlier rollout, not the full market list or present-day terms. The 2025 announcement records that launch.

What is changing in Spotify’s audiobook expansion?
The October 2026 announcement says the expanded catalog will include more than 350,000 titles in newly covered markets and more than 120 languages. Spotify also reported that monthly audiobook listeners grew nearly 40% over the prior year and listening hours rose by more than 30%. These are figures reported by Spotify, not independently verified measures.
Spotify’s Q2 2026 report said new Audiobooks+ tiers were planned, but did not detail their hours or prices. The October announcement likewise does not publish a tier table. Spotify’s releases also give different subscriber figures: the Q2 report says 1.5 million Audiobooks+ subscribers, while the October announcement says more than one million. Spotify does not explain the difference or specify a basis that reconciles the figures, so neither should be treated as a more precise current count than its source states.
Spotify also says Page Match had been used by more than one million readers since February. Page Match connects a physical book with its audiobook; it does not make a print book or a particular device necessary to use Audiobooks+.
Is Audiobooks+ worth paying for?
The answer depends on your local price, the hours included, and how much you expect to listen. Compare the add-on with the included allowance on your plan and with buying individual titles. If Spotify does not show your country’s price and terms clearly, do not assume the 2025 launch allowance or another market’s offer applies to you.
