Spirit Airlines is no longer operating flights, so its fare bundles cannot be booked or used. The airline announced an orderly wind-down on May 2, 2026, cancelled all flights and told guests not to go to the airport. Before shutdown, Spirit’s July 9, 2025 comparison listed three options: Value, Premium Economy and Spirit First. Here is what those historical fares included—and what affected travelers should do now.
What Spirit’s historical bundles included
The table reflects Spirit’s fare comparison dated July 9, 2025. It describes former feature terms, not fares available today. A “$” in Spirit’s grid meant an item could be purchased or incurred a fee; it did not state a particular price.
| Feature | Value | Premium Economy | Spirit First |
|---|---|---|---|
| Personal item | One included | One included | One included |
| Carry-on | Separately charged | One included | One included |
| First checked bag | Separately charged | Separately charged | One bag up to 50 lb included |
| Seat | Standard seat selection separately charged | Premium seat | Big Front Seat with wider 2 x 2 seating |
| Change or cancellation fees | Fee shown as applicable | No fee shown; fare difference may apply | No fee shown; fare difference may apply |
| Boarding | No included priority listed | Group 2 | Group 1 |
| Snacks and drinks | Separately charged | 25% off | Premium snacks and drinks included |
| Streaming Wi-Fi | Separately charged | Separately charged | Included, subject to availability |
| Priority check-in | Not listed | Not listed | At participating airports |
These terms come from Spirit’s July 9, 2025 fare comparison. The airline’s former change and cancellation policy likewise said that Premium Economy and Spirit First had no change or cancellation fee, though a fare difference could apply; Value bookings could incur fees. These are historical policies, not current booking options.
How the three options differed
Value: fewer inclusions, more add-ons
Value included one personal item. The comparison listed a charge for a carry-on, checked bag, standard seat selection, snacks and drinks, and streaming Wi-Fi. It also showed a change or cancellation fee as applicable.

Which option made sense for a traveler?
Historically, the useful comparison was the total trip cost for a specific itinerary and traveler—not the bundle name alone. A traveler could weigh the fare against baggage needs, preferred seat, boarding, refreshments, Wi-Fi and the possibility of changing or cancelling. More inclusions could mean fewer separately purchased add-ons, but Spirit’s comparison does not establish that a more inclusive option was cheaper overall for any particular route or passenger. It also does not provide a package-savings statistic or traveler-outcome study.
