Travel + Leisure reported that Southwest’s “Splash Sale” offered up to 30% off eligible base fares with code 30SPLASH, but the reported booking deadline was February 27, 2025. Those booking and travel dates have passed.
Southwest’s official deals page listed a different, time-limited offer when checked on October 8, 2026. Its terms can change or expire, so confirm the live offer and the total price for your itinerary before booking.
What the 2025 Southwest Splash Sale offered
Travel + Leisure reported on February 27, 2025, that Southwest was offering up to 30% off eligible base fares with promo code 30SPLASH. The discount applied to the base fare, not government taxes and fees. “Up to” described the maximum discount; it did not mean every eligible ticket was 30% cheaper.
The article showed these fares as examples at the time. They are historical snapshots, not current prices or a promise that the routes qualified for every traveler:

When the code worked—and why it is no longer usable
According to Travel + Leisure’s report, travelers had to book by 11:59 p.m. Pacific on February 27, 2025. The general travel window was March 18 through May 21, 2025. Hawaii inter-island travel had a separate window, April 28 through May 21, 2025. Both the booking deadline and travel periods have passed; do not rely on 30SPLASH for a current reservation.

Southwest said the discount was applied before government taxes and fees, and that seats, days, and markets were limited. Restrictions, exclusions, and blackout dates applied. Fares could vary by destination, flight, and day, were subject to change until ticketed, and itinerary changes could increase the fare.
How to tell whether a sale fare is actually a good deal
A percentage discount alone does not tell you what a trip will cost. Compare the same itinerary and dates, and assess the total price and schedule rather than treating a base-fare reduction as a reduction of the same percentage in your full ticket cost.

- Start with the live offer terms. Check Southwest’s flight deals page for the current booking deadline, travel dates, eligible markets, and exclusions.
- Search your exact route and dates. Sale inventory can be limited by route, flight, and travel day. Southwest’s Flight Sale Information guidance recommends its Low Fare Calendar to check prices across dates.
- Compare the full cost. Look at the price including government taxes and fees, then compare flight times and any other itinerary details that matter to you. The advertised percentage applies to eligible base fares, not necessarily the all-in ticket price.
- Confirm the discount before paying. Make sure the offer is reflected in the itinerary you are about to purchase and review the final price before ticketing. Southwest says fares can change until ticketed.
Existing reservations and sale restrictions
Southwest’s sale guidance says some promotions apply only to new reservations. Do not assume an existing booking will qualify automatically; check the offer’s terms and Southwest’s current guidance before changing or rebooking. Southwest also warns that sale fares may be unavailable on some routes, dates, or flights and can sell out. Its guidance says discount availability may vary by destination, flight, and day of the week, and may not apply during very busy travel times or holiday periods.
