Southwest’s interline partnership with Condor began offering transatlantic travel options on January 19, 2026. Travelers can connect between Southwest’s U.S. network and Condor through six named gateways, but the actual routes, fare, baggage terms and loyalty credit depend on the itinerary. Here’s what the agreement means and what to verify before paying for a ticket.
What Southwest and Condor announced
Southwest announced the partnership on December 2, 2025, describing it as an interline agreement. Travel options were scheduled to begin January 19, 2026, with booking through Condor, travel agencies and travel websites. Southwest’s Condor partner page continues to direct customers to partner booking channels.
Southwest’s announcement said Condor serves nearly 70 destinations from its Frankfurt hub across Europe, Africa, Asia and the Americas. That is the carrier’s figure in its December 2, 2025 announcement, not an independently audited current count. Southwest’s announcement also quoted executives describing the agreement as an expansion of travel options; those statements are company claims, not independent evidence of lower fares, better reliability or customer outcomes.

Southwest’s partner page names Condor destinations including Frankfurt, Rome, Paris, Prague, Barcelona, Budapest and Venice. The page specifically dates Barcelona, Budapest and Venice to summer 2026. These lists do not mean every city can be reached from every gateway on a single itinerary; check the dates and routing offered for your specific trip.
What an interline ticket means for travelers
Southwest defines interlining as coordinating passengers and checked baggage for an itinerary using two or more airlines on one ticket. That differs from codesharing, in which one airline places its own designator code on a flight operated by another. Southwest describes this agreement as interline, not codeshare. Southwest’s interlining explanation outlines the distinction.

A single ticket can simplify an itinerary involving more than one airline, but the announcement does not establish transfer details for every route. Before booking, check the seller’s itinerary and fare terms, including whether your entire journey is on one ticket, how the airport connection works, and how checked baggage will be handled.
Where to book—and what to compare
Southwest says partner itineraries can be booked through partner airline websites and channels. The reviewed help page says booking on Southwest.com is expected eventually, but gives no launch date. For now, use the live options shown by Condor, a travel agency or a travel website, and confirm who is selling and servicing the ticket.

Compare the complete trip rather than assuming the partnership automatically makes a connection cheaper or more convenient. Check:
- Total price and the fare’s change, cancellation and baggage conditions.
- Total journey time, connection length and the airports used.
- Whether all flights are on one ticket and what happens if a delay disrupts a connection.
- How bags are transferred and whether you must collect or recheck them.

Can you earn Rapid Rewards points on a Condor itinerary?
Southwest says Rapid Rewards members can earn points, tier-qualifying points and flight segments, plus Companion Pass qualifying points and flight segments, on the Southwest-operated portion of a partner reservation. The member must add their Rapid Rewards account number to the reservation. This credit does not mean that Condor-operated flights earn Southwest rewards.
