The Sony WH-1000XM6 was reported at $398 for Black Friday 2025, down from a $459.99 reference price—a nominal saving of $61.99, or about 13.5%. The promotion was reported on November 28, 2025, and is historical, not a confirmed live offer. Check a retailer’s checkout price before buying.
What the $398 deal included—and when it ran
Phandroid reported the $398 price on November 28, 2025, and directed readers to Amazon. A Black Friday roundup separately listed the headphones at $398 against a $459.99 reference price. Sony and Best Buy pages have also shown prices around $398 in indexed page states, but those listings do not establish that the same promotion remains available today. Phandroid’s dated deal report and the 2025 Black Friday roundup document the historical offer.
The exact terms—such as whether a coupon, membership, particular color, or specific seller was required—are not established by those reports. Treat $398 as the advertised historical price, not a guaranteed checkout total or a price available at every retailer.
How much did buyers save?
Against Sony’s $459.99 reference price, $398 represented a $61.99 reduction, or approximately 13.5%. Phandroid described the saving as about $60. That is a meaningful discount on premium headphones, but not a half-price clearance: the XM6 remained a nearly $400 purchase before any applicable tax or shipping.

What the WH-1000XM6 offers
Sony’s specifications list a closed, over-ear design weighing about 8.96 ounces, Bluetooth 5.3, multipoint pairing, and support for SBC, AAC, LDAC, and LC3 codecs. The headphones include ambient sound mode and adaptive noise-canceling optimization. LDAC requires a compatible source device; it is not guaranteed to be used by every phone or computer. See Sony’s WH-1000XM6 specifications.
Battery and charging
Sony rates playback at up to 30 hours with noise cancellation enabled and up to 40 hours with it off. These are maximum manufacturer figures, not guaranteed runtimes; settings and use affect battery life. Sony lists approximately 3.5 hours for charging.

Noise cancellation and calls
Sony says the XM6 uses its HD Noise Canceling Processor QN3 and processes input from 12 microphones in real time for noise cancellation, sound, and call clarity. Sony describes the QN3 as seven times faster than the QN1 processor in the XM5. These are manufacturer-stated capabilities, not an independent comparative test of how much better the XM6 performs for every listener or call environment. Details appear on Sony’s WH-1000XM6 product page.
Travel and accessories
The package contents listed by Sony include a carrying case, connection cable, USB cable, warranty card, and reference guide. The folding earcups make the design easier to pack. Fit and comfort are personal, so the weight and included case do not guarantee that the headphones will suit every wearer.

XM6 or XM5: does the newer model justify the premium?
The clearest historical value comparison is from the same 2025 Black Friday roundup: it listed the XM6 at $398 and the previous-generation XM5 at $248, a $150 gap at those sale prices. Those are period-specific prices, not current offers. Both models are aimed at buyers seeking Sony noise cancellation and premium wireless features; the XM6’s case is its newer processing and microphone system. Whether those refinements are worth paying more depends on your priorities and the current price difference.
| Buyer priority | Practical direction |
|---|---|
| Latest Sony flagship and newer processing | XM6 |
| Lower purchase price | XM5, if it is substantially cheaper |
| Multipoint, LDAC, and everyday travel use | Compare the models’ live prices; the price gap may matter more than the generation |
If you are comparing Bose, the roundup listed the QuietComfort Ultra Headphones (second generation) at $399 and the first generation at $299 during the 2025 sale period. Those prices are historical, not current. Bose is worth considering if its fit, transparency mode, or sound approach better matches your preferences; the available price information alone does not establish a universal winner.

How to assess a price you see now
Because the $398 promotion dates to November 2025, do not rely on an old headline or indexed listing to judge a purchase in 2026. Before paying, verify the listing and checkout terms directly:
- Confirm the final price in your cart and whether a coupon or membership is needed.
- Check who sells and ships the headphones, particularly on a marketplace.
- Make sure the condition is new rather than renewed, used, or open-box.
- Verify the model number, color, shipping charges, return terms, and warranty eligibility.
- Compare the live XM5 and Bose prices rather than using their 2025 sale prices as current benchmarks.
The historical deal report points to Amazon but does not provide a verified direct listing or enough detail to confirm its seller, condition, warranty, or return terms. Sony’s product pages and a Best Buy listing have also shown the XM6 around $398 in indexed states; that does not guarantee today’s stock or price. Check current retailer pages, including Best Buy’s black XM6 listing, for live terms.
